With valleys and farmland all around, this charming property is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

On entry you’ll find a handy utility/cloakroom where you can rinse muddy boots and freshen up after a day of outdoor adventures. Beyond, the lounge/dining room has low ceilings, exposed wooden beams and stone walls that ooze character. The deep windowsill is the perfect spot to curl up with a good book, and for peaceful couple’s time you can stretch out on the sofas before the wood burner and TV. Share homemade meals at the dining table, using the kitchen that boasts everything you’ll need for an effortless self-catering stay. When it’s time to sleep, a couple of steps lead from the lounge to a spacious room with a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room that ensures ultimate convenience. Enjoy the fresh country air and the sights and sounds of the farmyard as you make the most of the enclosed gardens to the front and rear of the barn. There’s also outside space for dining with a dedicated BBQ area, and parking for two cars plus storage for bikes.

Wonder freely around the picturesque farm, or venture beyond to explore the Olchon Valley and Brecon Beacons National Park that sit on your doorstep. With no light pollution, this is a great place for stargazing, and a paradise for walkers; join the popular Offa’s Dyke Path just two miles away and follow the routes to Hay Bluff or Twmpa. Visit the magnificent ruins of Llanthony Priory (ten miles), or for a taste of contemporary local life, visit the market towns of Hay-on-Wye (12.5 miles), Abergavenny (13 miles), or Crickhowell (21 miles).

We've stayed at the cottage during Christmas and it is much bigger than on the pictures.Very clean, very warm , very good size for the cottage for 2 people , 2 big sofas great fireplace and what's important unlimited wood.The owners very friendly and helpful and gave us the privacy we absolutely loved it. Richard & Sara could not have been more welcoming, telling us to feel free to explore the farm and their land. It was lovely to see the farm animals, which wonder around freely. Richard and Sara were really helpful and friendly and provided a lovely welcome pack. A comfortable cottage in a beautiful, remote location with glorious views across the valley from the enclosed garden, also furnished with seating and a BBQ. Beautiful cottage, amazing space, brilliant hosts. We completely relaxed on our holiday, amazing down time. We loved our stay! Sara and Richard were really welcoming hosts. The cottage had everything we could have needed and we were provided with a lovely welcome package which included some biscuits for our dog. We were lucky enough to meet the farm animals and loved feeding the goats! We look forward to returning.

The cottage was wonderful, homely and cosy. The inside of the property is lovely, beams and stone work really set it off and the decoration is totally in keeping. We loved seeing all the animals and Richard and Sara could not have been more welcoming and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend. :)

The barn was great vey well outfitted very clean with good equipment for cooking etc. Superb views with some great walks to be had, my dog enjoyed the fresh air and walks. Richard and Sara where great hosts, very nice and helpful.

Spent 3 lovely nights in the very well finished barn conversion, views across the hills while having a glass of wine in one of 2 secure gardens were welcome after drive, furnished and equipped with all you need. Being surrounded by animals was a treat the goats and cows roamed in fields on way down drive. My wife enjoyed watching the little piglet Read morerun around and tease the other animals. Sara and Richard are great host and welcomed us on arrival, even dog treats left out for our Frenchie Hide

We had a lovely break at this cottage which is really comfortable and well-equipped. We appreciated the very generous welcome pack - especially the Easter eggs. This cottage is on a working farm. Animals roam free which we loved, there can be the sheep or goat walking past your window. Sara and Richard are lovely very helpful. The cottage had some lovely touches flowers, fruit, tea coffee sugar really nice. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable the bed was really comfy. We loved our stay! We were very kindly welcomed by Richard. He also showed us the farm with the sheep, cows and goats. He has transformed the barn into a cottage himself; a job well done! For those who want to disconnect from the world, this is an idyllic spot on a working farm. The cottage is specs to a very high standard and provided a haven of rest for myself and my wife. We love animals and enjoyed spending time being visited by goats, cows and dogs. We had a very restful and relaxing week at The Steps Barn, a very recent and comfortable barn conversion. The owners, Sara and Richard are friendly and helpful.
