Elegant and bright interiors with a rustic chic feel, plus an idyllic garden with a chiminea overlooking the countryside of the Wye Valley National Landscape make this cosy lodge an excellent choice for a romantic getaway for two. Spend your time away exploring the nearby castles, scenic walking trails and historic towns. Active couples can also enjoy canoeing, fishing, cycling and rock climbing.
As you enter the property, your attention will be drawn to the wide picture window in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This neutral-toned space is decorated with wooden furnishings and plenty of natural light pours through the skylights. A wood burner keeps the room warm while the dining table benefits from the far-reaching countryside views. Walk past the comfortable sofa to reach a tucked-away contemporary corner kitchen. Pull open the sliding wooden door to find a tranquil double bedroom. Completing the interior is an en-suite shower room. Outside, you’ll find an enclosed open-aspect garden with furniture, a chiminea, a pizza oven and a BBQ.
While staying at the base of Coppett Hill, you can take a stroll along the River Wye (less than 200 metres). Head into Symonds Yat (2.5 miles) to find a handful of amenities – including a pub, canoe hire, bike hire and a butterfly zoo. Visit the 13th-century Goodrich Castle (1.5 miles) or the birthplace of King Henry V, Monmouth (6.5 miles). Put on your hiking boots and follow the walking trails through the Forest of Dean (9 miles), or sit back and soak up the views on a steam train ride.
