Surrounded by towering trees with an elevated terrace and bedroom views of the Black Mountains, this quirky couple’s bolthole will make you feel close to nature during your romantic Welsh getaway. Bring one canine companion with you, between the months of January and April, to stay in this rural lodge with a bright open-plan layout and a unique triangular glass entrance. Fill your time with romantic strolls through the Brecon Beacons National Park, cosy pub visits and bonding outdoor activities like canoeing and pony trekking.

Enter the property and find yourself in the stylish open-plan living area with a sofa and a double bed where you can soak up the countryside views through the glass doors. This space is decorated with a TV and has access to the decking. A compact, contemporary kitchen offers the essentials for cooking a homemade meal. Completing the interior is a bright shower room with a WC. Outside, you’ll find a raised terrace with a table and chairs plus a fire pit. You can also explore the grounds containing 300 acres of wood and farmland. Parking is along a 100-metre path, so a wheelbarrow is available to help with your luggage to the cabin.

While staying in the foothills of the Black Mountains, you’ll be on the border between England and Wales, with the historic Craswall Priory just 1.5 miles away. For a meal out or to pick up some essentials, head to Hay-on-Wye (4 miles) – here, you can also wander around the castle and along the River Wye. Explore the Brecon Beacons National Park with a visit to Pwll y Wrach nature reserve (12 miles) or a hike to the 811m summit of Waun Fach from Capel-y-ffin (7 miles).

Amazing position! Quite a steep hill to access, with sheep for company. Hay on wye is a friendly, vibrant town with a relaxed vibe, would recommend, shopkeepers friendly and chatty, lots of cafes and thursday market was great. Small accommodation with good shower room and basic kitchen, great veranda with gate to keep sheep out. Very quiet and littRead morele light pollution. Very narrow road to access but worth it. Never saw the neighbours at all so very private. Hide

Had an absolutely lovely time in the cabin. The view was perfect, the balcony to look at the view was perfect and the firepit facing the view was perfect! Small kitchen was enough to do a bit of cooking in, bathroom was bigger than we expected and the bed was very comfy after a long day walking.
