Mirroring the quirky design features of the town around it, this Brecon cottage is presented with an undeniable charm. A property for every season, it’s been lovingly laid out with a wood burner indoors and a small courtyard out front, inviting guests to embrace the weather they’re offered in the utmost comfort. Grade II listed with an array of handsome original features, the place pairs traditional elements with contemporary luxuries to create an exceptional base for four guests. It’s also dog friendly with the many appeals of Brecon just a few metres away and the wild Brecon Beacons right on your doorstep.

Only accessible by foot, you’ll need to wander over the magical footpath on a winding road to reach this characterful abode. Once inside, find everything cosily stacked on top of each other, laid out over three storeys. The first floor offers a cosy lounge with soft seating, a Smart TV and a wood burner, along with a spacious bathroom that’s been modernised with attractive tiling. Down to the lower ground floor, discover a farmhouse-style kitchen with exposed stone walls and a dining table too. From here, you can step out into the courtyard for outdoor evenings. Back up to the second floor, two bijou bedrooms offer snug spaces to sleep in.

The River Honddu tumbles gently past the property just metres away, and the River Usk runs through the centre of town less than 0.5 miles away. Find so many pretty spots to sit along the rivers, visiting local cafes and inviting pubs for your refreshments. Another waterway offering quality walking opportunities is the canal, with the basin half a mile away acting as the start of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal route. Follow the pathway along to the incredible Brynich Aqueduct (3 miles), a listed feat of engineering.

A really warm cosy cottage in a charming location. It is recently renovated to a high standard. We spent the new year cold snap here enjoying the frosts and the snow. Very well located to walk into Brecon for the shops and Pubs. Equally easy to get into the mountains for a hike. We are hoping to come back soon..

Brecon is a lovely town and this is a lovely cottage with beautiful decor, but probably not suitable for people with serious mobility issues because of the steps outside (which are shown clearly on the photos) and the two flights of narrow, twisty stairs inside. It was warm and cosy - we thoroughly enjoyed our winter stay.
