Cosy up in a traditional shepherd's hut with glorious, far-reaching views and all the creature comforts you could wish for. This idyllic rural hideaway for two is set in the grounds of a Herefordshire smallholding and surrounded by rolling countryside. There are two nearby pubs serving food, one in the hamlet of Little Dewhurst, half a mile away, and the second in pretty Hoarwithy, 2 miles distant, along with a shop. The beautiful River Wye runs through Hoarwithy village, where you can hire canoes and kayaks for a tranquil journey along this celebrated waterway.

Your beautifully crafted holiday home is one of two huts, each thoughtfully situated for privacy and spectacular views. Bright and charmingly furnished in fresh country style, it tucks in a neat kitchen, a table for two where you can enjoy the view as you eat, and an inviting double bed with pretty linens. There's a wood burner effect electric fire for nights in, and a spacious shower room completes the layout. Outside, a large garden patio has a picnic bench and a fire pit with a swing arm, perfect for BBQs as you star gaze on dark nights.

Explore a range of scenic trails in this National Landscape. The Wye Valley Walk leads you across the England/Wales border and there's a peaceful, 4.5-mile circular path through unspoiled countryside from Hoarwithy. A must-see is the village's outstanding Grade I-listed Italianate church with mosaics and lapis lazuli. See locally made artworks and crafts in the impressive, 16th-century Market House in historic Ross-on-Wye. The celebrated river also runs through the city of Hereford, home to a magnificent cathedral and the Black and White Museum, displayed in a splendid, half-timbered house.

We had a lovely stay in the Thwen Shepherd's hut. Louise and Mike were really helpful and welcoming on arrival, and was lovely to meet their little dog Frank too! The hut had absolutely everything you could need and more, all equipment and kitchen bits etc were provided and made cooking outside on the fire pit super easy. The location was great forRead more us, close enough to Ross-on-Wye and Hereford (about 20 mins) but felt peaceful and rural enough too. Would definitely stay again! Hide
