Get away from it all to enjoy peace and seclusion in a delightful rural retreat for two. Set in the lovely Aled Valley, this spacious timber lodge is perfect for guests who love walking and watching wildlife in beautiful and remote countryside. Two furry friends are also welcome. You'll find village shops and dog-friendly pubs serving food in two nearby villages: Llanfair Talhaiarn (3 miles) and Henllan (4 miles). The unspoiled valley is on your doorstep, while the coast at Abergele (8 miles) and seaside resorts such as Colwyn Bay are within easy reach.
Climb steps to a wide decked area and into the bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The lodge has a lovely cottage-style interior with comfortable seating, a pretty dining table and gingham curtains at the windows. There's a good-sized kitchen and a wood burner effect electric fire adds a cosy touch. The charming bedroom houses a Victorian-style bed with white linens, while a sleek shower room completes the layout. Outside, enjoy meals on the decking, with outdoor furniture and a fire pit in the large and lovely enclosed garden, with wonderful views.
The village stores in Henllan stock locally made walking sticks and shepherds' crooks along with groceries, while historic Denbigh (8 miles) has an eclectic range of specialist shops selling locally made arts, crafts and vintage goods. Cross the drawbridge of Denbigh Castle to see the immense triple-towered gatehouse still standing in the medieval ruins and visit the quirky 1950s museum. This journey from rationing to rock and roll takes in cars, furniture, tiny black and white TVs and more. You can hire a bike at beautiful Llyn Brenig (9 miles), which offers walking and cycling trails, a visitor centre and a cafe.
