Very compact , but cosy more than enough room for 2 , great location and tve grounds are stunning . Lots of friendly peacocks that can be noisy , but you get used to it very quickly and actually miss them now I'm home. Only 15 mins walk to town too , for shops, pubs and restuarants . Highly recommend , would love to have used the wood burner but waRead mores a warm week . Hide

We had a lovely week. The gatehouse was small but adequate for our needs. We took a while to adjust to the cool temperature of the building due to it's location and age. Best discription would be shabby chic but ok if you just want basic home comforts. As a base for exploring North Wales it was great. The location with the castle and grounds was veRead morery special. We loved the feel of the place and the tranquility. The peacocks give the place an air of grandeur and colour. Overall a good experience and a lovely holiday. Hide

We felt very fortunate to stay in this charming and cosy gatehouse, with a very comfy bed, and exceptional access to the stunning gardens and beautiful, historic castle. It was a wonderfully relaxing break, and we especially enjoyed the unexpected sight of peacocks roaming the grounds. Although they were quite noisy (during mating season), their dRead moreisplays of feathers and strutting were fascinating and fun to watch. This charming property is within easy walking distance of the local town and perfectly located for pretty walks nearby and the spectacular scenery of Snowdonia, while also being just a short drive from the lively town of Betws-y-Coed. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. An unforgettable visit to North Wales. Hide

Great historic property in a great location, ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. Access to the castle and grounds was included in the price. Be aware that in the colder months the property does take some heating, and the Peacocks can be vocal in the mating season.

Beautiful quirky small cottage for two. Gorgeous surroundings and gardens. Being able to visit the castle on our own and without pressure was a privilage. I also loved the peafowl wondering around. A really different type of holiday

Great little place to stay. Very comfortable bed, loved the log fire, enjoyed looking around the castle and grounds and meeting the peacocks. Liked the history of the castle and its restoration. Gatehouse was very compact but okay for two. Well situated for visiting various attractions including Zip World, Bodnant, Conwy, Fairy Glen, Swallow FalRead morels etc. Would love to return. Hide
