Property code: OC-WAG442

Combining stylish decoration with lovely original features, this semi-detached stone cottage is located just below the popular Ffestiniog Railway and 20m from Penrhyn station. There’s so much to see and do nearby, including beach days and biking trails, castles and caverns, making this a brilliant North Wales base for a couple’s getaway or family break.

Dating back to the early 1800s, this period property has been renovated to offer a year-round welcome. The lounge is delightful, with timelessly stylish furnishings complementing a beamed ceiling and a large stone inglenook with a wood burner. This is the place where you can settle down for a comfortable evening of reading, playing music or watching a show on the Smart TV. The galley-style kitchen has a tiled floor with underfloor heating for a super-cosy feel, and is equipped with everything you’ll need for hassle-free cooking, while the dining room (also with underfloor heating) is an appealing space with lots of light. At bedtime, head upstairs to the two pretty bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, both of which have gorgeous views. They share a bathroom with a shower over the bath. For alfresco drinks and dining, head through the door in the dining room to the charming back garden, with steps up to a patio that’s equipped with a picnic bench.

In the village of Penrhyndeudraeth there are various shops and eateries. It’s just 2 miles to the famous Italianate village of Portmeirion, and 3 miles from the bustling town and harbour of Porthmadog, which offers a wide variety of shops, pubs and places to eat. For a day at the beach, head to Borth-y-Gest or Black Rock Sands, around 4 miles.

A lovely comfortable cottage. Great if you are a Ffestiniog Railway fan, but it's closeness to the cottage is not a problem if you are not.

We loved the cottage and the terrace garden. The furnishings fitted in beautifully and the pictures were lovely. Altogether a really nice place to stay. We had the bonus of really beautiful and very warm weather but it was always cool inside.
