With a cosy wood burner inside and a sunny patio boasting lovely views, this converted outbuilding makes a gorgeous family getaway or couples’ retreat. It’s set on a farm close to Bangor, Caernarfon and the foot of Snowdon, and is ideal for all kinds of holidays, from shopping and culture to days at the seaside and outdoor activities.

This single-storey cottage (one of three in a terrace) has a tastefully decorated, open-plan living space which is bright, welcoming and comfortable. A slate floor delineates the kitchen/diner, with its fitted cupboards and adjacent timber dining table and chairs. The lounge has wooden floorboards and simple white walls - an inviting place to snuggle in front of the wood burner with a book or while watching the TV/DVD. When you start to feel sleepy, the spacious double bedroom offers co-ordinating wooden furniture and a dressing table/work space and chair, while the pretty twin room has an integrated wardrobe and a TV. They share a sleek shower room with a large, walk-in shower. For an alfresco drink or meal accompanied by superb views of Snowdonia and the Anglesey coast, head to the front of the cottage, where there’s an open patio area with a picnic bench. For guests wishing to explore the area’s cycle trails, bike storage is available.

The cottage is located about 3 miles from the lively city of Bangor, where there are shops, cafes, a Victorian pier and an arts centre. On its outskirts you’ll find the popular family attraction GreenWood Family Park, and the National Trust’s Penrhyn Castle & Garden. Zip World at Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda, 5 miles, is home to the fastest zip line in the world, and Llanberis, the starting point for walks or a train journey to the summit of Mount Snowdon, is also 5 miles.

Y Beuddy is in an ideal location for many attractions. The cottage was warm (even without the log burner), comfortable and quiet. The views are wonderful, especially watching the sun set. The little gifts left by the owners are a lovely welcoming touch. We will definitely be returning.

Great cottage, brilliant location! Open countryside all around with views of Snowdonia, but only a few miles from town, shops, restaurants and transport links. Lots to see and do nearby, Anglesey was a highlight for me with lovely deserted beaches and sea swimming. Loved it here and would return in a heartbeat.

Good holiday, only problem was the lighting especially in the main kitchen living room.

The Hoover was very big heavy and inefficient, the led lights were the old type offering poor lighting. The double bed mattress was excellent quality. Shower and bathroom good. Just no shelf to put the wash bag on!
