As charming as they come, this rustic characterful cottage is bursting with delightful original features that’ll transport you to centuries past, perfectly placed for families looking to enjoy everything the Dyfi Valley has to offer.

After adventuring around your surroundings, head into this reverse-style medieval cottage to feel as though you’ve stepped into the pages of a novel. Dramatic beams lead you through the ground floor and into a choice of two endlessly cosy and quaint bedrooms that’ll send you to sleep dreaming of the historic tales hidden within the walls. If you’re not quite ready for bed, follow the warmth of the electric flame-effect fire upstairs to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining room complete with a homely atmosphere and an impressive, vaulted ceiling with exposed timber beams. Get creative in the kitchen with the local produce you’ve collected before enjoying a special family dinner around the rustic dining table. Hunker down for the evening on the comfy sofas and stay up way past bedtime by enjoying the ultimate film night around the TV.

Nestled within the Dyfi Valley, part of the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere, the rural town of Machynlleth boasts an array of independent shops, plus the oldest street market in Britain every Wednesday showcasing the best local produce this area has to offer. At opposite ends of the estuary, dive into the sandy beaches of Aberdyfi (10 miles) and Ynys Las (12 miles) for a traditional day at the seaside and try out water sports such as sailboarding and canoeing. Known as the southern gateway to Snowdonia, keen walkers can enjoy a myriad of walking trails from Machynlleth; join up with the trail half a mile away following the River Dyfi from the estuary to the source at the summit of Aran Fawddwy.

Adeilad ardderchog, llawn hanes. Lovely historical building, very atmospheric, warm, suitably furnished and very well equipped. There was everything we wanted, but we had little time to relax as we were showing ancient Bibles from the Welsh Bible Exhibition in local schools and at Eglwys S. Tudur, Darowen. Lovely property in an excellent location with easy access to everywhere, lots of space and fab layout. Very well equipped. Full of character and history. Loved the artwork. And the pizza on Saturday night from the deli next door was excellent!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, historic cottage. The upside-down design, with a fabulous upstairs all-in-one room was very easy to live in. The location was excellent both for the interesting town of Machynlleth and for the Wales Coast Path.

Really lovely cottage in the centre of Machynlleth so really easy to get to from train station and to explore the town. Clean, everything you would need. A bulb went out in the bathroom during our stay and it was sorted promptly and efficiently. Lovely touches of a bottle of wine and bara brith on arrival. Would highly recommend.

Such a lovely house, everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Location is amazing, on street parking was fine (just down the road or in the MOM as guided). Warm and cosy with effective heating. Quiet at night, with no disturbance. Some nice touches, like cake and wine on arrival. We definitely will be back.

This is a really beautiful house with a very empathetic modern vibe inside a time capsule where you wish the walls could talk to tell their stories. Everything has been thought through to make for a very comfortable stay.

Staying in the oldest property of Machynlleth gives a special feeling. The house is fully equipped. In the front of this property is a wonderful bakery! And it is on the doorstep of Snowdonia and near the sea.

The cottage is very cosy and welcoming. The decor is sympathetic to the history and style of architecture. It is in a perfect location for exploring the area as most of the places we visited were within half hour drive. Lots of beautiful walks in forests, coast, sand dunes, nature reserves, waterfalls, rivers, craft centre, heritage railways, minesRead more. The town has plenty of places to eat, we especially enjoyed the deli on the corner of the house and the vegetarian restaurant. The fish and chips and takeaway from the nearby Indian were very good as were the freshly made pizzas from the deli, cooked only on Saturday evenings, very popular. Lots of interesting shops and a well stocked Co-op. We had no issue with parking behind MOMA as it is only a two minute walk away. Hide
