This highlights the lovely rural views from windows in the first-floor open-plan living area. The light and airy space has a fine vaulted ceiling with original beams, a cosy sitting area, a dining table and a well-planned kitchen. A staircase leads down to a spacious ground-floor double bedroom, with ceiling beams and a single bed for one small child. Outside, the hot tub is separated by a wall from the shared grounds of the farmhouse, where a bench provides another spot from which to enjoy your tranquil surroundings.
Visit the National Trust’s Powis Castle (4 miles), built by Welsh princes as a medieval fortress, and explore its celebrated terraced gardens. There are more lovely gardens at Glansevern Hall (2.5 miles). Lively Welshpool has shops, pubs and restaurants. From here you can ride the heritage steam train along the 8.5-mile route through beautiful Mid Wales to Llanfair Caereinion. The Montgomery Canal runs through Welshpool, and you can enjoy a peaceful walk or bike ride along the towpath. Further afield, scenic Lake Vyrnwy (22 miles) is a favourite spot for water sports.
