  • After a hard day’s walking or climbing Cadair Idris, put your feet up in front of the toasty wood burner

Property code: OC-486688

Sitting in the foothills of Cadair Idris, this tastefully-refurbished 18th century farmhouse is surrounded by lush green fields and enchanting woodlands. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms, it’s the ideal country retreat for small families or groups of friends who want to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Spend happy days hiking Cadair Idris or kayaking at Bala Lake, and contented evenings BBQ-ing in the garden or relaxing by the wood burner in the sitting room.

Step inside and you’ll discover a lovingly-renovated home with exposed beams and a cosy inglenook fireplace that really showcases the rich heritage of this traditional Welsh farmhouse. Make yourself at home and then head to the stylish kitchen to whip up some dinner for your loved ones. Host a sociable dinner at the dining table, or – if the weather is fine – head out to the garden, fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco as you drink in the incredible country views. Afterwards, gather around the fire pit and watch the stars come out, or retire to the sitting room to warm your toes by the wood burner. At the end of the day, climb the steep staircase and you’ll find two peaceful bedrooms that boast heart-stirring country views.

Hop aboard a boat to learn all about the myths and legends of Wales as you sail along an underground river deep in the mountains of southern Snowdonia at King Arthur’s Labyrinth (10 miles). Alternatively, experience the adrenaline rush of the zip-wire ride in Blaenau Ffestiniog (22.5 miles) - a 0.5-mile-long wire that boasts stunning views of the Blaenau Ffestiniog and Snowdonia beyond. The kids are also sure to love bouncing on the attraction’s trampoline – it’s the largest underground trampoline in Europe.

Excellent cottage. Warm and cosy and well equipped. Big secure garden for our dog to explore. Headroom in the upstairs bathrooms was a little challenging for my very tall husband, but we would definitely stay again.

Lovely cottage and garden in a peaceful and scenic location, however it needs more thorough cleaning, under and behind furniture as well as just surfaces.

This is a delightful, comfortable cottage in a beautiful location (360 degree views of mountains, fields, sheep and cows) yet only a short drive away from Dolgellau. We slept soundly every night and enjoyed the excellent shower pressure and WiFi. A good base for walking in the region too.
