Enjoy days on the beach, country and coastal walks and visits to vibrant Cardiff, when you stay at this holiday home near Barry. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom, single-storey barn conversion is one of two attractive, adjoining retreats, offering sumptuous accommodation and excellent outside space. Ideal for a small family or two couples, it captures views out over the Dyffryn Country Estate and Vale of Glamorgan and is well-located for exploring the Glamorgan Heritage Coast.

Make your way into the property, which has been designed with its accommodation at a raised level, to find light-filled open-plan accommodation with a stylish finish. Take turns at rustling up holiday meals in the modern kitchen area, dine at the table either inside or out, when you are ready to eat, and relax together on the comfortable seating after your many excursions. Settle down to films on the Smart TV or listen to your favourite tunes through the iPod dock or Bluetooth soundbar. When the fabulous day comes to an end, amble through to either the double bedroom, with its en-suite shower room, or the king-size bedroom, which has an en-suite bathroom. Each of these also has its own TV. Spill out into the sunny gardens to play games with the youngsters or cook on the BBQ. Enjoy a glass of wine on your private balcony as the sun sets over the Vale of Glamorgan.

Take the children to Barry Island Pleasure Park and the beach at Whitmore Bay, 3.5 miles away. Porthkerry Country Park, 3.5 miles away, is also fun for families. I felt peaceful and safe staying alone at Y Golomen, with the friendly and helpful owners nearby. It's on the northern edge of Barry, close to all the benefits of this seaside town, including the supermarket just up the road, but is also very quiet and has beautiful countryside views of the Vale of Glamorgan.

Lovely cottage which formed a base for my elderly mum and I to visit family for a few days. We had a few questions before booking as my mum's mobility is not great these days and these were answered honestly and efficiently. Perfect location, only wish we had a bit more to time to explore the surrounding countryside rather than just a few days.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The property was perfectly located for catching up with family in Cardiff and enjoying the beautiful coastal walks. A cosy cottage for returning to after days out.

This cottage is the perfect balance between bucolic charm and modern comfort and convenience. Overlooking a tranquil vista of fields, hedgerows and rolling hills, the location is ideal. Close to amenities like the supermarket around the corner, the airport a few minutes drive away, and the many attractions of Cardiff and its environs, it's also priRead morevate, secluded and peaceful. Tina and Christopher were great hosts and the cottage was equipped with everything we needed. In short, we had a heavenly stay. Hide
