Sleeping four guests, the traditional, two-bedroom retreat dates back to the 18th century but offers modern-day comfort suitable for 21st century visitors to Wales. Situated 1.5 miles from the village of Pennal, it is just over 5 miles from historic Machynlleth and 6.5 miles from the sea at Aberdyfi, making it ideal for enjoying the coast, as well as the dramatic national park.
The entrance of the property boasts a spacious layout, inviting guests to relax and unwind as soon as they arrive. With room for seating, guests can comfortably take a seat to kick off their shoes and hang their coats. Step inside to relax and enjoy the welcoming accommodation that still exudes an abundance of character. Unwind in the open-plan lounge/diner, where you can stoke up the open fire and read your books or watch TV. The kitchen, with an original, feature bread oven, offers everything you need to help you prepare tasty meals with the fresh ingredients you have shopped for on your many excursions. Also downstairs is the family bathroom. A double bedroom can be found up on the first floor; this adjoins the twin room, both have plenty of storage space. Both bedrooms have some restricted head-height due to their characterful, sloping ceilings. Dine outside in the sunshine on the patio on summer days. There is private parking with the cottage.
Head to the coast at Aberdyfi to spend time on the beach, where you can swim and enjoy water sports. Wander round the shops here or walk 4 miles along the coast up to Tywyn. In Tywyn, 8.5 miles from your base, you can hire bikes and head out into scenic Snowdonia along a number of different routes. Visit Machynlleth to browse in the market, amble around boutiques and galleries and visit the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Wales. Have a day out to King Arthur’s Labyrinth, 10 miles from the cottage, where you will be taken through a series of underground caverns.
