Gaze out across gorgeous Snowdonia when you stay at this exquisite, stone holiday home near Dolgellau in Wales. Just 1 mile from the vibrant market town, this two-bedroom retreat nestles in a beautiful garden and verdant countryside within the national park. Sleeping five guests, it is ideal for anyone keen on walking, cycling and other outdoor pursuits, as well as reaching the beach at Barmouth.

Step into this rural retreat and wander down the hall to discover it has a stylish and beautifully finished interior. Amble through to the open-plan kitchen/diner to open the French doors on to the garden, unpack the shopping and relax for a while on the sofa as the kettle boils. Take your cup of tea and slice of traditional Welsh bara brith through to the lounge, where there is more soft seating. Light the wood burner in the stone inglenook fireplace in here on chilly evenings, absorb the glorious views and find a good film on TV for everyone to enjoy. Also downstairs is a useful cloakroom. Both bedrooms are up on the first floor of the cottage. These include a king-size room and a bedroom with both a double and a single bed. The family bathroom is also at this level. Spread out into the garden as often as the weather permits. Sizzle supper on the BBQ and play games on the lawn. There is space to store cycles and private parking.

The cottage exceeded our expectations! A beautiful hillside setting surrounded by sheep and lamb, so very peaceful. Large downstairs space particularly the living room with wood burner and good sized upstairs bedrooms. Well equipped kitchen, nice dining area and lovely welcome pack. Extremely clean and comfortable. Host nearby if we needed anythingRead more. The only thing I would highlight is that it's quite a long, steep walk up the hill so not easy to walk to the local town of Dolgellau and local shops. A great base to explore Snowdonia, fully recommend! Hide

Berthlwyd is a lovely cottage in a quiet spot, with plenty of good woodland walks very nearby. It is spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated and has everything needed for a great break away from home.

Another fantastic 2 week stay, this is our 4th time. Cannot fault anything with the property or the location, great for getting to lots of different walks and not too far from the coast for beautiful beach walks, even on the not so sunny days. Thank you again Margaret and we will see you next year.

Recommended. One of the best cottages that I have stayed in and I hope to return. The cottage is very spacious and very well equipped. Lovely countryside location, with views of nearby hills and the Cadair Idris mountain range. Dolgellau town and a supermarket within easy walking distance down the hill. Plenty of information about nearby attraRead morections and local walks, with the popular Precipice Walk just over a mile further up the road. The pleasant owner was attentive without being intrusive and lives close by. Hide

A great location, just outside of Dolgellau and surrounded by mountains and fields, but close enough to town to easily pick up supplies and options for eating out. The owner is a wonderful host who takes care to check in on her guests and provides a clean and comfortable home to stay in. We will return!

A beautifully equipped cottage in a quiet setting. It was lovely to be woken by the sound of sheep! Excellent location for local shopping and excursions into the mountains or down to the sea. The provision of maps for local walks was particularly useful.
