Close by, the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner is kitted out with all the self-catering essentials, as well as a large wooden dining table beside patio doors leading out to the garden. When bedtime nears, choose from four pretty rooms: a twin bedroom and a double bedroom enjoy views of Cadair Idris, while two further double bedrooms have plenty of storage space and one has a vanity unit for additional convenience. Two contemporary bathrooms – one with a shower and the other with a bath – complete the layout of this lovely holiday home. Patio doors bring the outside into the kitchen/diner, and lead onto a large patio with panoramic views and a fire pit. Beyond is an enclosed lawn area with plenty of mature trees and foliage so you and your dogs – two are welcome here – can stretch your legs.
The former slate town of Dolgellau (2 miles) is packed with more listed buildings than any other town in Wales, and has excellent eateries and shops to satisfy every taste. Indulge, then enjoy a walk along the Mawddach Trail to Barmouth (8 miles) where there’s a large sandy stretch of beach and all the traditional seaside attractions. Inland, Bala is 19 miles away. Famous internationally for events like white-water canoeing, swimming, cycling and triathlons, it’s a great location for walks too; if you’d prefer something less active, take a ride on the narrow-gauge Bala Lake Railway.
