Property code: OC-WAG582

A former slate miner’s cottage on the edge of Eryri - Snowdonia National Park, ideally located for paths or train up Yr Wyddfa - Snowdon and within a few miles of Llanberis and Caernarfon. From the cottage ancient footpaths will take you down to Llyn Padarn, perfect for wild swimming, and close to a great cafe for warming up after. The cottage is peppered with original features, close to a playground, and with a south-facing kitchen/diner, it’s an ideal base for a small family or group of friends thirsty for outdoor activities in an unforgettable mountainous setting.

Set over two storeys, this end of terrace cottage provides practical accommodation, with fresh and modern furnishings.. The welcoming sitting room is dominated by an inglenook fireplace with a flame effect stove; a place to snuggle after food prepared and served in the airy south-facing kitchen-diner, which leads to the small yard via French doors. The king-size bedroom on the first floor features original wooden beams, while there are countryside views from the south-facing twin bedroom nearby. Both are served by a family shower room. There is a small enclosed yard at the rear of the property and a picnic bench at the front.

Walking boots will see plenty of action during any stay here, with a host of peaks, including Yr Wyddfa -  Snowdon, the highest in England and Wales. The National Slate Museum, within Padarn Country Park (5 miles), is a breathtaking sight and offers a fascinating introduction to the area’s proud quarrying history. Llanberis and Caernarfon are both great for a wander, with scenic hillside trails and footpaths to explore. For something a little different, cycle or paddle around Llyn Padarn, or visit the nearby ZipWorld
