This single-storey cottage in the countryside near Bala is a great choice for lovers of walking, cycling and water sports. Ideal for families and small groups of friends, it has a garden, a games room and glorious views of the Snowdonia National Park.
There’s a lovely feeling of light and space in the open-plan living area of this peaceful holiday home. A sleek kitchen area flows into the dining space and then, through a wide arch, into the comfortable lounge. Here, you can snuggle into the leather sofas and pick up a book, play a board game or watch the Smart TV, warmed by the wood-burner-effect electric fire in cooler weather. When you start to yawn, head to one of the three bedrooms - a king-size, a twin and a single, all with ample storage space and co-ordinating colours, and sharing a spacious bathroom. A large, lawned garden surrounds the cottage and, from your picnic table, you can admire the views of the countryside and Arenig mountain. If you’re feeling energetic, the garage has been converted into a games room with a standard-sized, slate pool table and a darts cabinet.
The historic market town of Bala, 3.5 miles, offers a variety of shops, pubs and eateries to explore, and is also the headquarters of the narrow-gauge Bala Lake Railway. It stands at the head of Wales’ largest natural lake, Llyn Tegid, which is renowned for water sports, sailing and fishing. The quiet country lanes near the cottage are perfect for cycling, and golfers can enjoy 10 holes at Bala Golf Club, 5 miles away. For walkers, hikers and climbers the Aran and Arenig mountain ranges offer 27 summits of more than 2,000’ between them.
