Hunker down in this traditional and characterful dog-friendly countryside cottage on the edge of Snowdonia National Park which sleeps up to six guests. Spend your holiday discovering hidden waterfalls, hiking around serene lakes, climbing high mountain peaks and swimming in the sea. Snuggle up on the sofa in the homely living room, which has a wooden-beamed ceiling, white-washed stone walls, and a wood burner inside the slate hearth. Prepare a hearty meal for your guests in the bright and airy kitchen with a dual Range cooker and tuck in at the table in the dining area with retro chairs and an ornamental pot belly stove in a slate fireplace. Completing the ground floor is a utility room and WC. Climb the stairs to reach the stylish family bathroom with dark tiling and three bedrooms – two doubles and a twin. Outside is a fully enclosed garden with an elevated decked area with seating and a BBQ.
During your stay in the sleepy village of Corris Uchaf, you can enjoy scenic walking routes from your doorstep with views of the nearby mountains. Head into Snowdonia National Park (0.5 miles) for a stroll around Llyn Mwyngil lake (4 miles) or continue to Cadair Idris (2 miles) – with an 893-metre peak where you can admire valley and lake views. Bring your swimsuits for a dip in Cregennan Lakes (16 miles) or the tranquil sandy Benar Beach (24.5 miles). If you want a night off from cooking, head to Dolgellau (9 miles) or Machynlleth (6.5 miles) for an array of eateries.
Ideal location to visit the Dyfi Bike Park with its big mountain trails, set in 650 acres at the heart of Dyfi Forrest just 5 minutes down the road from the cottage. Also Coed y Brenin, 20 minutes up the road with its selection of paths for walking, running trails and the recent addition of 100km of exciting new mountain biking trails catering for most levels and ages. Visitor centres at both locations. Mountain bikes, equipment and mountain bike training can be hired locally and bikes delivered/collected at the cottage free of charge, whilst road bikes can also be hired locally. Secure bike storage on site.
Some of the other attractions in the area include the Talyllyn Steam Railway with Thomas the Tank Engine in Tywyn, Dolgoch Falls, as well as the ancient capital of Wales, Machynlleth, home to the Old Parliament House, the oldest street market on the British Isles and MOMA Wales art gallery. Aberdyfi links golf course, the RSPB Reserve, the Dyfi Osprey Project at Ynyshir and The Centre for Alternative Technology for pre-booked educational visits are all also popular attractions, to name but a few
