Relax in the garden play pool in the games room, or simply put your feet up in front of the glowing wood burner at this memorable group holiday destination in Pontypridd. Boasting great connections to Cardiff city and the Brecon Beacons National Park, this superb six bedroom farmhouse provides a celebratory getaway on a peaceful working farm accompanied by mesmerising valley views.
With nods to traditional decor throughout, this spacious 13-person property has been lovingly renovated to a high standard. Step inside the welcoming hallway and slip off your walking boots to enter into a large kitchen/diner where cracking open a bottle of red is on the cards. Any keen chef will be in awe of the facilities in the kitchen, including a large American-style fridge/freezer and a double range oven for plenty of goodies for the gang. After dinner, take your pick of two lounges – one with a cosy wood burner and TV and one with a plump sofa which calls for hours whiled away with a good book. Alternatively, soak up the Welsh landscape from the comfort of your own private hot tub. Surrounded by decking, and wrapped in mature lawned gardens, this is the ultimate unwinding spot. At bedtime, two king-size bedrooms, three double bedrooms and a family loft room with two extra beds are ideally suited for weary eyes. When morning rolls around, take a fresh pot of coffee out to the garden, where you can plan the day’s events with the rest of the troop.
From the doorstep, guests have a myriad of pathways and cycle tracks available to come and go as they please. Join the Taff Trail from the farm, which runs between Cardiff and Brecon, and covers a mixture of gorgeous riverside paths, railways and built up forestry. The bustling market town of Pontypridd, and Tom Jones’ birthplace, can be accessed via the route, and provides a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The lively city of Cardiff is just 14 miles away, for a longer shopping trip, or avid walkers will want to take advantage of the town of Merthyr Tydfil, which marks the southern boundary of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Horse riders and keen cyclists will also love the exercise opportunities here, or journey here at dusk to experience stargazing within an International Dark Sky Reserve.
