This charming cottage, situated just half a mile from Mumbles Beach, is the perfect coastal hideaway for small families. Sleeping four across two peaceful bedrooms, this property gives you the opportunity to explore the many sandy beaches in Gower, lots of which you can walk to. Spend the day at Bracelet Bay and Mumbles Pier (1 mile) before heading back home to enjoy a glass of something cold on the terrace, taking in the sea views.

The property, which sits on a steep hill, has a welcoming feel. Neutral tones blended with splashes of blue in the lounge remind you of the beach; sit in the bay window seat with your favourite book, gazing out to across the bay. The bright and airy kitchen has everything you need to cook up a tasty meal for your guests; eat at the dining table and make plans for tomorrow’s adventures. Take a relaxing bath or shower in the contemporary bathroom – just beware of the restricted head height – before snuggling into the wonderful four-poster king-size bed. The twin bedroom is also cosy and comfortable, with an elegant floor-to-ceiling window that lets in lots of light in the mornings.

Head off for easy strolls through Mumbles Hill Local Nature Reserve (160 metres) or to the historic Oystermouth Castle (0.5 miles) that offers spectacular views over the village. For something more challenging, try the 7.5-mile loop from Limeslade Bay (1 mile) that takes you through Langland Bay and Snaple Point. Visit Swansea Castle (6 miles) for a bit of history, alongside the interactive National Waterfront Museum (6.5 miles) that has brilliant exhibits to keep children busy. For more of an adrenaline thrill, take a boat ride with Gower Coast Adventures (10.5 miles) where you may spot birds, porpoises and seals as you skim across the water.

Overall very comfortable and quiet, but would benefit from some tlc. The roads leading to the cottage are steep and narrow .

Periwinkle Cottage is a quaint, cosy and comfy cottage in a fantastic location perfect for exploring Mumbles and the rest of the Gower Peninsula. We loved Mumbles and thought it a wonderful place for families. Having a sea view was a plus, as was private parking outside the property - this doesnt seem common in Mumbles and its an advantage, especiaRead morelly given the steep climb up to the cottage, which is set on a hill. The garden/outside area, however, as well as being in need of attention, was hard to access, with narrow steep steps making it a challenge for anyone older, someone with any mobility issues or those with young children. Well positioned for access to all the local immensities, though up a very steep narrow single track road (but this does afford it great views across the bay). Whilst we could see that the cottage once was well appointed it was now looking very tied. Bathroom and kitchen need work to bring back up to a good standard. Rear garden effectively inaccessRead moreible due to steep narrow steps that are overgrown with shrubs. Hide

A quirky holiday cottage. Could have been a little more attention to cleanliness, equipment (eg. old frying pan needs throwing out and replacing), light in kitchen over cooker needed repair; should have mentioned steep hill to access property.
