Enjoy long winter walks across Rhossili Down and summer afternoons basking on beautiful Gower Peninsula beaches when you stay at this delightful Welsh retreat. Sleeping seven guests, the three-bedroom cottage is 0.5 miles from Rhossili and features a blue plaque marking it as the birthplace of explorer Edgar Evans, who took part of Scott’s ill-fated South Pole expedition. Today the cottage offers comfortable accommodation for one or two families and captures magnificent sweeping vistas across its surroundings.
Make your way inside to discover an open-plan lounge/diner, with a flagstone floor, beamed ceiling and plenty of space for everyone to unwind. Plan your adventures in here, watch TV together and gaze out at the incredible views. Head through to the kitchen to prepare your holiday meals then gather round the table in the main room to dine. The family bathroom is also on the ground floor. Climb the stairs to lay your head in one of the two double bedrooms or the triple, with three single beds. There is also a WC up here. Soak up the glorious Welsh sunshine on warm days out in the garden. Dine at the table and look out over the countryside towards the sea.
Walk down to the beach at Rhossili Bay, 1.5 miles from the cottage. This is a popular place for both swimming and surfing and has been voted the best beach in the UK in the past. Pick up the Gower Coast Path here and strike out in either direction. Llangennith, 8.5 miles away on the western edge of the peninsula, is another picturesque, sandy beach that swimmers will adore. Venture 15.5 miles for a day out in charming Mumbles, which is known for its independent shops and eateries. See Oystermouth Castle while you are here and walk out along the pier.
