This cosy property, situated less than 500 metres from Mumbles Beach, is a wonderful seaside hideaway for couples and families. Sleeping four across two bedrooms, one with a charming four-poster bed, this property is the perfect place to return to after a long day exploring the many footpaths and beaches nearby. Head off for a stroll through Mumbles Hill Local Nature Reserve (160 metres) and along the Victorian pier (1 mile), before heading back to the house to enjoy a refreshing drink out on the terrace, looking out across the bay.

Step into this pretty property and into the lounge, where tasteful neutral decor paired with peaceful blue tones invite you to curl up on the window seat with a good book, glancing over at the sea views every once in a while. Cook up a storm in the contemporary kitchen that has a bright and airy feel, before taking it through to the dining area to enjoy a sociable meal around the table. Upstairs, an elegant king-size four-poster bed awaits you for a tranquil night’s sleep; the twin bedroom is also a welcoming haven to relax in after a long day, with lots of light coming through the floor-to-ceiling window in the mornings.

If you fancy another sandy beach besides Mumbles, visit Bracelet Bay (1 mile), Langland Bay (1.5 miles) or Caswell Bay (2.5 miles), all of which are perfect for making sandcastles. Swansea is just 6 miles away and offers plenty of cafes, bars and shops as well as the historic castle and the interactive National Waterfront Museum (6.5 miles). Further afield, there’s over 450 acres of rare wetland habitat at Llanelli Wetland Centre (13.5 miles) where you can hand-feed geese and ducks, complete an obstacle course or go cycling down the Celtic Trail Route.

Cottage is extremely comfortable, clean, and beautifully done out all round. As other reviews suggest, a smallish car and willingness to climb a steep hill after dinner out at Mumbles many good restaurants is required; nevertheless an excellent location.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cockleshell Cottage, which I'd describe as homely shabby chic. We would come again as the views from the sitting room and main bedroom are wonderful, and the rear terrace, reached by two sets of steps, is worth the climb for the patio and far-reaching views of Swansea Bay. We had some lovely meals and afternoon tea theRead morere. The kitchen is small (it is a cottage) and well-equipped. We had one small issue, and the owner was on it within minutes, having it rectified without fuss. Hide

Lovely views over the bay however the streets are extremely steep and narrow and you need to be fit/healthy to walk from the bay area up to the property. Rear decking area is also up steep steps. Need a torch if walking in dark up and down the streets. Mumbles is a lovely area with lots of delicious places to eat.

Fantastic views from Cottage. Very clean in a really good location. Bit of a climb walking up from Mumbles but in our opinion well worth it for views.

Outstanding views of Swansea Bay from the lounge and front bedroom. In particular, the lounge, kitchen and dining area are really comfortable, clean and cosy. Driving up to the property is not for the feint hearted but is within walking distance of the sea front and town but not for people with mobility issues or very young children.

Very comfortable and well equipped cottage with great views of the bay. More spacious than we expected from the photos, both downstairs and upstairs. Master bedroom also has the epic view and the second makes for a cosy childrens bedroom. Friendly neighbours and easy access* to shops and local attractions, beaches etc. *Yes as per other reviews theRead more road up to the cottage is steep and narrow and parking outside the cottage more easily undertaken with a compact car.
