  • Two lounges, a conservatory and a garden, offer plenty of space for eight guests
  • Relax in the sun in the large lawned garden

Property code: OC-HH672

Escape with friends or family to this elegant coastal home on the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With space for eight plus a conservatory and a large garden, it’s close to the beach and can accommodate a couple of canine companions too. It’s a simple, contemporary retreat with classic style throughout and ensures a relaxing place to stay during your Gower holiday.

There’s a striking sense of style at this detached residence: a nod to the nautical with a neutral colour palette and complementary furniture. Window shutters add to the crisp appeal of the large lounge where there’s a feature fireplace, a choice of seating and, to one end, a scene-stealing fully-glazed conservatory that makes a glorious dining space. Doors open directly onto the garden from here – ideal for the dogs to wander in and out at will – and adjacent is a huge shaker-style kitchen that’s sure to inspire even the most reluctant of chefs. There’s plenty of room to chat as you share catering and clearing-up duties; a second lounge provides a snug space for more intimate catch-ups or younger guests’ TV time. A handy cloakroom completes the ground floor layout. Upstairs, the family bathroom features an impressive double-ended bath as well as a separate shower cubicle, and there’s an en-suite shower room with the first of the two king-size bedrooms. There are two further twin bedrooms; all four bedrooms have the same peaceful styling, with warm carpets underfoot and shuttered windows for a clutter-free look. A driveway at the front of the property provides parking for two cars, but it’s in the rear garden where you’ll spend most time. Beside the patio is a lovely lawn where children and pets can play, and an eight-seat dining suite where everyone can enjoy the sunshine and sea air.

The Gower is edged by breathtaking beaches and quiet Horton Beach is less than 200 metres from your doorstep. Neighbouring Port Eynon is popular for diving, sailing, surfing and windsurfing, and in summer there’s a lifeguard patrol for safe swimming. A 3.5-mile drive in the opposite direction, Oxwich Bay is the longest expanse of sand in South Gower, backed by dunes, woodland and cliffs.

  • 4 bedrooms – 2 king-size, 2 twin
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with handheld shower over the double-ended bath, separate shower cubicle and WC, 1 en-suite shower room with WC, plus 1 separate WC
  • Range cooker, gas hob, fridge/freezer, additional large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer
  • Travel cot provided
  • Underfloor heating
  • TVs, DVD
  • Mobile signal is variable
  • Rear garden with a lawned area and patio with an 8-seater rattan dining set
  • Private parking for 2 cars
  • Beach 200 metres
  • Shop and pub 0.5 miles
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 2 dogs allowed. Additional charges may apply

I have just returned from an enjoyable family week's holiday at Witsend, a spacious, well equipped house with parking for up to 4 cars. It is a 5 min walk to the beautiful beach at Horton and close to the Coastal path. We enjoyed both the beach and walking, in particular the walk to Oxwich Bay and lunch at the hotel. The excellent Ship Inn at PoRead morert Eynon is only a short walk away. It was good to only use the cars once during our stay and that was to go to Rhosilli and the Worms Head, not to be missed. Have previously stayed at Witsend in 2021 and pleased by the updates to equipment, and in particular the enlargement of the parking area. A few more things are still needed, mirror in main bathroom, reinstate the ceiling lighting in the conservatory and a clock would be useful. This was the 2nd week of our fortnight's stay - had made separate bookiRead morengs in order to have linen changed and interim clean. We found the cleaning contractors to be super helpful and responsive. Hide

Lovely spacious, clean and comfortable property in a fabulous location, short walking distance to the sea with shops and places to eat nearby. We could comfortably accommodate four large cars on the recently modified driveway.

The house is in a great location five minutes walk from the beach. It has a large well equipped kitchen with plenty of crockery and cutlery and lots of space for food. The two freezers and a second fridge were very useful for a large family. The beds were quite comfy with nice linen and duvets. This property is comfortable but we felt lacked small homely touches like a large mirror in the bathroom, bins in the bedrooms etc. We would describe it as adequate, no welcoming pint of milk or other small details. Wifi fell in and out while my son was trying to work.
