Property code: OC-HH86

Located in Penmaen above Three Cliffs Bay sits this spacious four-bedroom property. Perfect for a family and two canine companions, it’s a fantastic getaway for those wanting tranquillity plus easy access to countryside walks and dog-friendly sandy beaches.

Exposed beams, wood flooring, and creamy tones create a relaxing atmosphere in this welcoming holiday home. On the ground floor, the lounge is a relaxing space with floor-to-ceiling windows that drench the room in natural, uplifting light. After a day of exploring, open the windows, sink into the sofa, and let the fresh countryside air breeze in. On chillier days, light the wood burner and unwind with your favourite programme on the TV. From the lounge, step through to the stylish kitchen and rustle up a delicious family meal then serve it in the dining room at the table with seating for nine people. Alternatively, open the patio doors and dine alfresco in the garden. Come bedtime, you can choose between a lovely twin bedroom or double bedroom on the ground floor or head upstairs where you’ll find two more bedrooms featuring a double bed and a double and single bed. All the bedrooms are wonderfully comfortable and pleasantly furnished with one of the bedrooms boasting a delightful balcony. In the morning, enjoy breakfast in the garden while listening to the birdsong in the trees. There’s also an extensive lawn where the children and dogs can run free.

Enjoy feeling the sand between your toes at one of the nearby beaches. Dog-friendly Tor Bay and Three Cliffs are less than 0.5 miles away and are good spots to relax, splash in the sea, or enjoy a spot of rock pooling. Alternatively, the whole family can head to nearby Cefn Bryn, the highest point on Gower, and spend the day immersed in nature. Climb to the summit and on the way spot skylarks, butterflies, brown hares, and the Neolithic monument, Arthur’s Stone.

We stayed at Holly Tree Lodge from 29th May to 5th June 2026. The property is full of character and history, with lovely, well-kept gardens. The large garden table, excellent BBQ, secure gated entrance and spacious driveway were all great features, and it was lovely seeing sheep near the gate. We were fortunate to have a couple of sunny days Read moreand enjoyed exploring nearby beaches and spending time in the garden. As is often the case with UK weather, we also had plenty of rain, but the wood-burning fire made the house feel cosy and welcoming. There was plenty of wood, kindling and matches provided, which was much appreciated. The newly fitted downstairs shower was excellent, with great water pressure. We had a disabled guest with us and appreciated the inclusion of a shower seat. However, there is quite a large step into the walk-in shower and the floor can become slippery, so assistance was still required. The house is a book lover's dream, with books everywhere, and the beds were comfortable throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the biggest issue for us was the cleanliness of the property. We noticed a previous comment in the visitor book suggesting new cleaners were needed, and sadly we would have to agree. While the house contains many interesting decorative items, they appeared to be collecting significant amounts of dust. There were cobwebs in corners throughout the property, and several plates, mugs, pans and pieces of cutlery had food residue and grime on them when we came to use them. The kitchen drawers and cupboards would benefit from a thorough clean and declutter. Finding crumbs in the cutlery drawer was disappointing, and there were several areas throughout the house that appeared to have been overlooked, including skirting boards, tables and floors. The utility area near the entrance was particularly cluttered, making it difficult to access and not somewhere we felt comfortable using. There were also a number of pieces of furniture that appeared weathered, worn or broken. We found an oven glove that looked as though it had been heavily soiled and should have been replaced, and a cleaning cloth and spray had been left behind on an upstairs bedside table. A small point, but the welcome book mentioned a welcome pack, which unfortunately wasn't provided. Even a pint of milk on arrival would have been a nice touch after a long journey. One safety point worth mentioning is the front door. Once opened, it has a tendency to swing shut quite quickly. Families with young children, or guests who may need a little more time navigating the threshold, should take extra care as fingers could easily get caught. Overall, Holly Tree Lodge has so much potential. The building, gardens, location and facilities provide the foundations for a wonderful holiday stay. However, the standard of cleanliness significantly impacted our experience. It's a shame, as the same level of care that is clearly invested in the gardens does not currently appear to extend to the interior of the property. For that reason, despite many positive aspects, we would not choose to return. Hide

The property is in a great location and is an ideal size for a large, mixed generation, family group. The lovely big patio is excellent for alfresco dining and the front garden great for keeping kids and dog occupied. Close to footpaths for local beaches and Cefn Bryn. The lodge also has easy access to the south Gower road for other beaches, MumbleRead mores and Swansea. Just a little TLC needed to bring this property up to the excellent standard we experienced during our first visit in 2022. Hide

This property worked well for three generations and the outside space for children and adults is good. However there were some basic things missing from the kitchen - oven gloves and rack for grill. We found the beds to be soft and thought that they should all have mattress protectors. This is the first property weve hired that didnt have a welcomeRead more pack - not even a bottle of milk! We felt the property was tired Having said that we did enjoy exploring the Gower and did wonderful walks from the property, around Oxwich Bay and Rossili. Hide
