Our stay at Capel Maethlon was simply incredible. The property is situated in Cwm Maethlon ("Happy Valley") and there couldn't be a more apt description for the location. Each day was spent surrounded by newborn lambs skipping in the fields; house martins nesting in the chapel's gables; pheasants, owls, and cuckoos calling in the distanceand all inRead more one of the most picturesque settings one could imagine. We highly recommend exploring the local public footpaths, all of which can be found in the Ordnance Survey maps provided by the property's owner. Easily within a day's hike, one can find multiple named mountains with incredible views, stone circles, tumuli, cairns, and other sites of historical importance. There is even a bronze-age barrow mound to be found in the farmer's field directly across from the chapel (though this is not publicly accessible, it can be viewed from the road). The chapel itself, though modern in comparison to the bronze-age and neolithic sites, is also of significance. The active graveyard next door provides an interesting snapshot into local life, and the chapel was once led by noted Welsh pacifist George Maitland Lloyd Davies. If you have even a cursory interest in history or archaeology, a trip to Capel Maethlon and the Happy Valley and will undoubtedly pique your curiosity. In all, this is one of the most incredible holiday properties you could hope to find and I couldn't recommend it more highly. Hide

Our second stay in Capel Maethlon and we've already booked the third. Comfortable, spotlessly clean and a stunning location combine to make a memorable stay. With ensuite in every room it's ideal for a break for a group of friends.

Very well equipped cottage in an excellent location. Good coffee machine was a big plus for us. Dog loved the huge field to run in and hard flooring throughout was easy to keep tidy. Rhians delicious baked scones were a lovely treat. We would definitely recommend your spot!

This converted chapel was fantastic. The road is very quiet and it is about a ten or twelve minute drive to the nearest supermarket in Tywyn. The kitchen is particularly well equipped and all the rooms were very comfortable as were the beds. Thank you for your hospitality.
