This superb renovated farmhouse with a sauna has plenty of space for large groups – perhaps multi-generational families, or friends celebrating a special event. Set near the popular seaside resort of Barmouth, it has spectacular views, fabulous private grounds and walks from the front door.
The open-plan kitchen/diner is the showpiece of this impressive holiday home, with a range cooker and two dining tables from which to enjoy glorious views of the sea and mountains. After supper, gather around the wood burner in the lounge, where an exposed-stone wall and original ceiling beams add heaps of character. A snug sitting room with a TV, table and chairs and a kitchenette is perfect for quiet times. One of the six bedrooms is also on the ground floor, with two single beds (or one super-king-size) and an en-suite shower room. Completing this floor are the property’s two family bathrooms: one with a bath, shower, WC and laundry facilities and the other a shower room. The remaining five bedrooms, four with en-suite shower rooms, are all on the first floor, offering a variety of sleeping accommodation to suit different groups. The private grounds include a lake and mature woods, fire pits, and a spacious sauna with a picture window to enjoy those glorious views.
The property is located near Arthog, a quiet spot in the Snowdonia National Park, appealing to walkers, photographers and lovers of wildlife. Walk down to the beach at Fairbourne (about 2 miles) or cross the bridge to Barmouth (less than 3 miles), where you’ll find a picturesque harbour and a good choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. From here there are more hiking and cycling trails, you can book a boat trip (look out for dolphins), hire a stand-up paddleboard, or simply spend the day on the long, sandy beach.
