A delightful character cottage in the heart of pretty Oxwich village is a perfect base for a large family or group of friends planning a holiday in the beautiful Gower Peninsula. This spacious detached property sleeps six guests, along with two dogs, and is set in mature gardens with trees to the front and a large, enclosed patio at the rear. The golden beach and sand dunes of Oxwich Bay are within half a mile, and there are glorious scenic walks along the Wales Coast Path for people and pets to enjoy together.
The light-filled holiday home is thoughtfully furnished in soft neutral tones that create a tranquil mood. A comfortable corner sofa, wood burner and books create a cosy retreat in the living room. From here, a door leads into a conservatory with seating, while the sleek contemporary kitchen and stylish dining area has bifold doors leading to the rear garden. Upstairs are a family bathroom and three charming bedrooms: two super-kings, one with an en-suite, and a twin room. Outside, the rear garden patio with outdoor furniture is enclosed by planting.
Head to dog-friendly Oxwich Bay, a popular beach for swimming and a great range of water sports. There’s a beach cafe and an excellent range of restaurants here to enjoy. Explore Oxwich Castle – in reality a fortified Tudor manor house – and discover the ruins of The Salt House. Or take canine companions for walkies along the cliffs and through beautiful woodland to Oxwich Point. Follow the path up to the 88-metre-high summit of Cefn Bryn (3 miles), for wonderful views of the coastline and countryside. Look out for the Neolithic monument known as Arthur’s Stone on the way. See a historic working watermill and much more at the Gower Heritage Centre (4 miles).
