  • Well-placed for car-free days at the beach

Property code: OC-BOW279

Welcoming and full of character, this cosy holiday home has room for couples or families, and is dog-friendly, too. Just metres from the beach in New Quay, it’s ideal for days at the beach, walking the coast path, water sports, cycling or just relaxing in its enclosed patio.

The cottage gives off cosy vibes from the very moment you enter. Its spacious kitchen features oak cupboards, a traditional pantry and a range cooker, and leads through an arch into the lounge/diner, where soft leather seating is arranged around a Smart TV and a wood burner, with a farmhouse-style dining table behind. A half-staircase leads down to the front door from here, but you’ll usually use the back door which accesses the parking area up a flight of stairs. After an evening of board games, chatting, reading of watching movies, head up to the first floor, where there are two double bedrooms (one with a TV and a wooden cot), and a bunk-bed room for two, which has use of a wardrobe on the landing for additional storage if necessary. The handsome family bathroom has a large shower and a free-standing bath. On warm days, you won’t be able to resist heading out to the enclosed patio, where there’s furniture for you to enjoy al fresco drinks and dining.

New Quay Beach, one of several which extend in an arc around the town’s sheltered bay, is just 200m from the property, and the town’s shops, bars and restaurants are all close at hand. If you’re feeling active, take a stroll along the coastal path, cycle one of the nearby trails, try kayaking, paddleboarding and sailing at the water sports centre, or play a round at the golf course, 5 miles away. For something a little different, you could book a dolphin-spotting boat trip around Cardigan Bay.

We had major issues as the property had not been cleaned and all bedding and towels were used from previous occupants. The owner did address this after some hours and numerous phone calls . Not a very good way to start the holiday! This property is completely unloved and is in dire need of maintenance and care. From the arrival at the rear of thRead moree property through overgrown bushes and vegetation there is a patio area with a filthy and rusty BBQ that's falling apart. Chairs that are also in a very poor condition and even a pot of old cigarette ends on the table. The kitchen was dark and only 50% of the bulbs worked but the owner did address this when they came to do the 'initial clean' as we requested some light. The lounge and dining area is just tired with very low, old and dirty leather sofas. To a lamp precarously perched on a bookshelf to provide some additional and needed lighting at night. Bathroom is very good and light. The rear large bedroom is functional but a dressing table or similar would be a great addition as there is a wardrobe and bedside tables only. The front large bedroom has a very tired wardrobe where it rattles as you walk by so you have to jam something in the doors to stop this. There is an additional wardrobe on the hall landing upstairs but has a drawer hanging off as this is broken. The smaller bedroom with bunk beds just has space for the bunk beds so suitable for children only really. The location is close to walk down to the harbour which is great but the sports bar outside is extremely busy and noisy until the early hours on weekends. This is clearly not the property owners fault but something to be aware of if you like peace and quiet. Also the old chapel next door is a dumping ground for the local mini market and also gets used occasionally as a urinal by its occupants or sportbar patron ! This was not very pleasant to see. Again this is not the property owners fault but it doesn't make you feel that you are having a quality break away from it all. Maybe the people that own and rent this out should stay in there own property for a few nights and then they might realise just how poor this place is and what they could do to make is much better. I could not recommend this place I'm afraid. Hide

New Quay is a wonderful place with the 3 beaches ,an array of places to eat and access to the coastal paths. Location is ideal for an easy walk down to the beach . Good to have parking . The accommodation is spacious but the cottage generally needs updating .

We really enjoyed staying at Arnant. The house is very clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Its location in the centre of the village is ideal, very close to the local shop, pubs and restaurants.

Nice property with good parking for the area and well positioned to explore Newquay and surrounding area. Third bedroom is barely a bedroom and furniture and fittings could do with updating. The club opposite is open and blasting music until 2am on a Saturday night so not great for families.

Love it location, easy to walk to the main centre as the amazing beach via a woodland walk. House is spacious and very comfortable. Would say it is opposite a Sports bar which can get noisy till late...a few of our party found it hard to get to sleep on some nights.

Lovely roomy property in good location. Handy for shops bars and beach / harbour. Not recommended for people with mobility issues due to steep steps at rear to access. Dangerous steps from front lobby to living area with no stairgate & slippy wooden steps. Furniture needs updating/ replacement as sofas too low on floor for people with mobility issuRead morees / elderly to use comfortably / safely. Rear bedroom bed uncomfortable and needs replacing. Nowhere in the rooms to use as dressing table etc. Shower cubicle needs a door rather than curtain as water runs everywhere making floor slippy & dangerous Hide

Many lightbulbs didn't work including a floor lamp which property desperately needs for adequate light, no "welcome folder" with info about the property with usual info one would expect, no reply from owner when messaged them about these things, no info on rubbish or recycling, no instructions for cooker or extractor, noise from local pubs at weekeRead morend made hearing TV difficult (not owner's fault, but the reason why a point deducted on location question). Dishwasher didn't clean properly. Hide
