Perched above a section of the River Conwy winding its way through the Foelas Estate, this characterful cottage is the perfect bolthole for a dog-owning couple keen to explore Snowdonia National Park. Just 6 miles from Betwys-y-Coed, the lodge features a cosy lounge, open-plan kitchen/diner and instant access to the estate’s attractive woodland.

The two storey period lodge has been brought right up to date, its seamless blend of modern interiors and rustic features all basking in plenty of natural light. The entrance hall can double as the dog’s sleeping quarters during a stay, with a cosy lounge, complete with wood burner, antique furniture and river views, only a few pawprints away. An open-plan kitchen/diner sits just around the corner, with the large bathroom completing the ground floor. A large, beautifully-appointed king-size bedroom with more river views awaits upstairs; a warming, comforting place to begin and end the day. While there is no garden at the lodge, guests are free to explore the expansive woodland surrounding it, along with the grounds of Foelas Estate.

The area surrounding the lodge is a walkers’ paradise. Along with the attractive grounds of Foelas Estate, there are numerous circular routes leading to and from the neighbouring village of Pentrefoelas (1 mile), which is home to a number of amenities including a brewery. Betws-y-Coed (6 miles) is known as the ‘gateway to Snowdonia’ and has a bustling high street along with more woodland and hillside trails to explore. The national park remains one of the biggest jewels in North Wales’ crown, its peaks, lakes and sweeping landscapes ripe for exploration via an array of different means.

Well located. Interesting property. Spacious. Unfortunately not too well maintained now. Limited equipment - would expect something to brew coffee, more cleaning products for kitchen surfaces and more instructions. Secluded, but perhaps a blind on the bathroom window? Directions to the property misleading (suggest turn left off main road, but actuaRead morelly turn right!), which was really frustrating. Hide

Loved the cottage and location bur a shortage of equipment ,no bins ,no DVD player. Also we would have liked to clean up a bit more but not even a broom supplied. Overall we loved the location.
