Enjoy a blissful break at this romantic holiday home deep in the Carmarthenshire countryside. Ideal for a couple and a pair of canine companions, it has on-trend interiors and an enclosed outdoor seating area where you can enjoy al fresco feasts and the babbling of a nearby stream.

Attention to detail flows throughout this fabulous holiday hideaway – surrounded by woodland, this is a place where you’ll switch off as soon as you stop the car engine. High-end, light-filled and ultra-glossy, the kitchen here should inspire many a special meal; bring the dogs and they can keep an eye out for treats as you eat, while the dining suite will comfortably seat four should you invite guests. Move on afterwards to the stylish lounge where there’s a choice of sofas, a Smart TV and a selection of books and games. A cloakroom adds home-from-home convenience and, when it’s time for bed, a spacious king-size room awaits, complemented by a stunning en-suite where a refreshing walk-in shower can kick-start the following morning. Extend your living space by stepping opening the patio doors in the dining area – just beyond, you’ll find a table, outdoor seating with cushions and a small charcoal BBQ, all fenced-in and gated so you can relax in the knowledge that the dogs – or an accompanying young child – are secure.

Quietly located between the villages of Cynwyl Elfed and Bronwydd Arms, this is the perfect place to escape the everyday, though there are still plenty of amenities within a few miles, including a smattering of pubs and restaurants. Dogs and walkers will enjoy the wooded public footpath that’s just 50 metres from the doorstep, while golfers can visit Carmarthen Golf Club, 4 miles away. Close by, the county town of Carmarthen sits on the banks of the River Tywi and has an abundance of shops and eateries plus an indoor market full of local produce, arts, crafts and fashion. For a change of terrain and doggy leg-stretch, head to the stunning 7-mile sands at Pendine, just over 20 miles away.

The property itself has such great potential but falls short on a few points. The main road is busy so there is a lot of traffic noise. The layout doesnt make the most of the view and the sofas arent the most comfortable. Bring insect repellent! The midges are out in force here with the stream so close by. I found dead insects in the fruit bowl andRead more around the property. Food spill on the table runner and lack of attention to detail meant there were a few dirty areas. Make sure you read the welcome booklet well! I had a message from the owner saying their cleaners had complained because we hadn't stripped the beds and had turned of a security light. The light switches are hard to find for each room so if you try one that doesnt do what you want make sure you switch it back! The public footpath up the hill to the side of the property is beautiful and there are a lot of beautiful places within a 30-40min journey. Hide

lovely comfy place to stay right beside a stream . The bed was really comfortable and the blackout blinds helped us to sleep in longer . There is a footpath right beside the property for dog walks but it is quite a steep path . There are no other footpaths nearby . The owner provided plenty of dog towels and throws and a welcome treat of a welsh crRead moreeam tea with welsh cakes . The phone signal is very poor but has good wifi . It made a great base for exploring carmarthenshire and the black mountains . plus there is a lovely steam railway that runs close by along the river . Hide

The cottage itself is pristine and immaculately kept. However there is very limited garden area. The only small patio area is in great need of repair or replaced. Parking is off a main busy road and is tricky.
