It’s hard to know where to start when describing this beautifully renovated Welsh farmhouse deep in Snowdonia National Park. For starters, it’s powered sustainably with wind and solar power, offering a wonderful holiday home for eco-conscious traveller. Secondly, the views are just outstanding, with Cader Idris mountain, Barmouth Estuary and the Llyn Peninsula all clearly visible from the house and garden. And last but definitely not least, the 10-person sauna is the icing on the cake for holiday goers keen to properly relax into the trip. The house can sleep up to 11 guests and three dogs are welcome to join you, making it ideal for a celebratory trip among family or friends.
The farmhouse’s ground floor blends character and space, starting with the cosy living room adorned with original beams. On chilly nights, gather with fellow guests around the wood burner, set within an impressive inglenook fireplace. The modern, light-filled kitchen is on hand for all your meal prep – be sure to admire the pretty tiles – while the dining area boasts gorgeous sea estuary and mountain views. All five bedrooms are on the first floor. The loveliness extends outside; as well as the sauna you’ll have a handmade table for al fresco dining, a fire pit and a charcoal BBQ.
You’ll be 5 miles from Barmouth, a popular seaside resort with views over Cardigan Bay. Explore the vibrant harbour, shops, pubs and eateries before settling on the soft sand for a few hours or embarking on a 2-mile windswept walk from Barmouth to Fairbourne (4.5 miles). If it’s rural delights you’re craving, head to Arthog Waterfalls (3 miles) or Cregennan Lakes (2 miles) or get out the OS map to plan a longer hike in the national park.
