We really enjoyed our stay at Walnut Cottage, including the cosy living room, well equipped and very clean kitchen, and spacious attic bedroom with wonderful king-sized bed. The whole cottage had a lot of character and was thoughtfully and tastefully presented. We were delighted with our unexpected welcome-basket with wine, fruit and milk - a lovelRead morey touch. The weather was quite autumnal, but the cottage heated well throughout. The overhead shower provided plenty of warm water. We enjoyed the tranquil surroundings and countryside views from bedroom and living-room windows. The secluded cottage provided a good base for us to explore the area locally and further afield. The owner was really friendly as well as respectful of our space - we were delighted to have a chat with him before we left. Hide

We loved the cottage the minute we stepped inside. It felt very homely, cosy and with a relaxed style and unlike a holiday rental; just as in the photos. It feels like thought and care went into renovating it. As other people have written, the setting and views are glorious. Possibly our favourite country cottage rental and we've stayed in a lot. Read moreWe went just outside the summer season so had mixed weather and it wasn't so warm, but we had to sit outside with a glass of wine one evening to experience the view and silence. Very clean and everything worked. Also enjoyed the log-burner when a bit chilly in the evening. Hide

It's a treat to stay in such a secluded spot; plants and wildlife in abundance. The cottage is very old but well-maintained, and the owner is friendly but allows privacy.

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The surrounding gardens and land have obviously been well loved and cared for creating a wonderful haven. The view from the bedroom window is amazing, we didn't pull the curtains once and enjoyed seeing the sunsets and early morning mists.
