This stylish holiday retreat is in the harbour town of Barmouth, on the edge of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia). Sleeping four guests, the apartment makes the ideal couples’ retreat or base for a small family. The property is just 0.5 miles from the town’s beautiful sandy beach, and you can also hop on the passenger ferry to cross the estuary and visit the seaside resort of Fairbourne. Nearby attractions include the Corris Slate Mines (20 miles) and Harlech Castle (11 miles).

Wonderfully contemporary and bright, enter this two-floor apartment through the first floor. You’ll find a bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with large windows offering panoramic sea views. Rustle up meals in the sleek kitchen area and share mealtimes at the dining table. Settle in one of the armchairs to watch boats in the harbour, or sink into the plush corner sofa for a movie night in front of the Smart TV. On chilly nights, fire up the wood burner to create a cosy atmosphere. A refreshing shower room completes the lower level. Upstairs, two gorgeous bedrooms await, providing memorable spots for a good night’s sleep. Outside, the enclosed, glass-fronted terrace is the perfect place to unwind. Sip a glass of wine, sink into your private hot tub, or tuck into an al fresco supper, as you admire the views across the beach towards the distant mountains. Guests are provided with a parking permit for a public car park behind the property.

Barmouth is a vibrant town with shops and eateries – follow the Heritage Trail, or visit one of the two museums, or enjoy traditional seaside fun in the amusement arcades. The area is a haven for walkers, with the Wales Coast Path and scenic routes along the Mawddach Estuary. Inland, you’ll reach the trails of Coed y Brenin (10 miles) and Cadair Idris (27 miles).

The apartment is full of everything we needed and has a great location. Stairs were a problem for us, both entering the property and within it, with our toddler. The location is stunning and the dawn views were breathtaking.
