Full of charm, and a perfect choice for couples, friends or small families, this seaside getaway is brilliantly positioned to explore vibrant Mumbles and the beautiful Gower Peninsula. Just 1 mile away, the Victorian pleasure pier is home to amusements and a games room, while 0.5 miles in the opposite direction takes you to the 12th-century Oystermouth Castle, perfect for a picnic and with gorgeous views from its walls. Walk or cycle the promenade – or take the land train – to find crazy golf, a children’s playground and an array of places to eat and drink. Newton Road, 1 mile away, is another excellent destination for enticing shops and gourmet food. And then, of course, there are the incredible beaches that surround you: including the small beach at Mumbles with its rock pools, and the family-friendly Langland Bay, 1.5 miles away, which is popular with surfers.
As you step from the street into the open-plan ground floor of this welcoming property, you’ll immediately feel its historic character. Exposed stone walls, ceiling beams and an ornamental fireplace add to the atmosphere, while on the walls are quaint works of art depicting fishing boats and the sea. In the lounge area, you’ll find plush seating and a TV for entertainment, and then there’s a step up that takes you to the compact kitchen, which has a microwave and slimline dishwasher for convenience. From here, further steps take you up to the twin bedroom, with its cute, porthole-style window, and further, cottage-style stairs lead to both the elegant family bathroom – which boasts a corner bath and separate shower – and the main bedroom. This lovely double room features a traditional-style metal bed, a muted colour scheme to promote a good night’s rest, and stunning views over the rooftops to Swansea Bay.
There’s a garden at the back of the cottage which is steeply terraced – a lovely spot for some fresh Welsh air. Parking is on-street or in public car parks.
