This appealing property in the pretty village of Oxwich is a lovely base for a small family or couples sharing to explore the beautiful landscape of the Gower Peninsula. The cosy, single-storey annexe sleeps four guests and is within half a mile of glorious Oxwich Bay Beach. This sheltered, gently sloping expanse of golden sand stretching for 2.5 miles, is a family favourite for swimming and a range of water sports from windsurfing to paddleboarding. Oxwich has shops and eateries, and you can sample fresh fish with locally grown vegetables at a beachside restaurant.

Charming, latticed windows and a homely interior add a welcoming touch to your holiday hideaway. Step up into the hallway, which leads down to the light-filled lounge/diner, with characterful ceiling beams, a large, comfortable sofa and wood burner-effect electric fire. There's ample room for the dining table and chairs, plus a pretty vintage dresser, while the adjacent kitchen has all the catering aids you might need. You'll find two bright bedrooms, a double and a twin, together with a stylish shower room. Outside, a delightful private patio houses bistro furniture and a sheltered bench, ideal for quiet drinks and dining. There is private parking for one car, with one additional space subject to availability.

Walkers can get into their stride on the scenic Wales Coast Path that takes in hidden coves, rugged headlands and dramatic cliffs like those at spectacular Three Cliffs Bay (4 miles). Learn more about rural life in times past at the Gower Heritage Centre in Parkmill (8 miles). Based in a working 12th-century water-powered flourmill, it offers hands-on activities such as breadmaking lessons and traditional craft workshops. Stroll along the promenade and Victorian pier at thriving seaside Mumbles (10 miles), explore medieval Oystermouth Castle and dine out in one of the town's excellent pubs and restaurants.

A very clean, well equipped, modern apartment that was great as our base for Oxwich beach and exploring the Gower. Plus points were the very short walk to the beach, the area being quiet and beautiful, having a shop for essentials in a small village, the apartment having everything we need, very clean, a small outside area with dining table and chaRead moreirs and garden bench - enclosed so we could dump all our beach stuff and leave it safely overnight. Instructions from the host were clear and useful. What didn't work for us - family with two small kids - was being aware of noise from the upstairs apartment and conscious of what they could hear from our noisy kids. Hide

This downstairs apartment has a real continental feel about it, great for a holiday away from it all. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the beach. There was decent wifi, comfy beds and it's well equipped. Just one parking space, but spot on for our family.
