Nestled at the head of the Rhondda Valley in the village of Blaencwm lies the Old School House Ty Ysgol. Surrounded by green sloped, tree lined mountains is this spacious, converted primary school steeped in local history. Gone are the collieries of years passed by, replaced by the eternal peace, tranquillity and majesty of the mountains, the soundRead more of river waters flowing by and birdsong. The photos do not do it justice; this place is spectacular. What an idyllic spot to spend time with family on holiday. The School House has been tastefully renovated with attention to every detail. There is even the odd school desk or two as a nod to the buildings past life. The furnishings, flooring and fittings are of the highest quality. The home is amazingly spacious with plenty of separate areas to relax in; you never feel on top of one another and when you want to come together as a group there is always space to do so. There are two completely fitted out kitchens and dining areas, a great games room and even a big screen cinema which is really fun for kids and adults alike. The downstairs kitchen-diner has a huge picture window to drink in the view of the mountains and keep you connected with the outdoors. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable and 3 have en-suite bathrooms. Another 2 family bathrooms and 2 WCs means there is always availability. We loved the special bedroom just for the dog! There are multiple sofas and seating areas throughout the home. It was easy to find a quiet corner or a bigger area to play with the kids or socialise. Outside was a large garden with a big lawn. Great for playing ball with the dog or outdoor games. A separate pool house contains an immaculate swimming pool which was cleaned daily and always at the optimal temperature. It was hot during our stay and the bifold doors on the pool house opened up the space into the garden beyond; a nice touch! A large charcoal BBQ meant we could enjoy outdoor cooking to feed our whole group. Upstairs, the owners have created an amazing outdoor space with a spacious sun deck accessed via two sets of double doors. Clever use of smoked glass balustrade and privacy panels means that you can feel totally secluded from the surrounding village and immerse yourself in the mountain vistas all around you as you soak up the sun. Inside, the games room has a full size pool table and table tennis table and still has room for a small gym. We all enjoyed driving challenges using the games console and gaming chair. The hosts were always at hand to help out with any questions we had but at the same time, discrete and never imposing. Perfect! Our 3 generation family group of 12 had the most relaxing time at Ty Ysgol. There was so much to explore in the local area on foot and beyond by car, that we will need to come back to continue the adventures. But best of all was the peace, tranquillity and awesomeness of the mountains around you in this superb holiday home. Thank you! Hide

Beautiful house in an idyllic location. The property is so spacious yet feels homely. The games room, cinema and pool were fabulous fun for all ages. The weather was too hot for us to explore as much as we would have liked but we were really grateful for the swimming pool to cool us down.

A beautiful house with plenty of space for a weeks holiday with an extended family. We had a fabulous Christmas, cooked great family meals for 11 in the well equipped kitchen, swam in the private pool, spent quality time together and relaxing time apart in the range of living spaces.
