Private facilities and an outdoor kitchen complete the sense of seclusion, while walks from the doorstep deliver a daily dose of fresh air. Head to Brecon (5 miles) for supplies then snuggle by the wood burner or sit beside the fire pit for a night beneath famously starry skies.

Three separate huts make up this magical holiday hideaway. Blending into the landscape, the beautiful shepherd’s hut is your main living space. Climb the wooden steps and the interior is simply charming, with country-style décor and a wood burner for all-weather appeal. Take a seat on a wooden stool and admire the scenery, or climb onto the dreamy double bed for blissful slumbers. The enclosed garden has a picnic bench and fire pit, while a bench in the field above offers far-reaching views across the Brecon Beacons.

Private parking for two cars means you can unpack at leisurely pace. Views of the Brecon Beacons, Hay Bluff (15 miles) and the Black Mountains (27 miles) provide inspiration for keen walkers and cyclists, while numerous trails start from the doorstep. Head to at Llangorse Lake (5 miles) for water sports, fishing and walks at the water’s edge, or visit Brecon to see its iconic cathedral and wander through a maze of narrow streets lined with Georgian and Jacobean shopfronts. Hay-on-Wye, with its fine choice of bookshops and weekly farmers’ market, is 14 miles away.

We (myself, husband and our cocker spaniel) had the most amazing stay here! The amount of private space was fantastic, and our dog had the time of his life running around the private field. The cooking facilities were great and the composting loo was super clean and well maintained and therefore didn't smell at all. The shower was hot which was verRead morey welcome after some rainy afternoons. We also found the bed comfortable, which is a great considering I was 6 months pregnant at the time of our stay. It's well located for a lot of lovely walks and days out to some lovely parts of the brecon beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog). Our dog refused to leave at the end of the weekend. We hope to be back! Hide

The meadow location is very attractive, and moving from one area to another is rather fun - less so in driving rain, of course. The kitchen is basic, and open on one side to the weathers, so varies from pleasant to bleak. Be aware that neither the hut nor the washing facilities is spacious, and the bed is the only comfortable place to sit in chillyRead more weather (the hut, however, stays warm, and you may never need the wood-burner). Ideal for a single person - couples will need to really like each other. Campers will find the facilities luxurious; those used to accommodation with the trimmings may find the property 'challenging'. But it's characterful and different, and well-placed for exploring a wonderful area. Hide

Great location to stay with good amenities and in good weather was a real treat. Great if you have a dog in terms of an enclosed space for them to wander around.

We had a lovely long weekend here with exclusive use of the shepherd hut as the bedroom, and two separate kitchen and shower/washing/ toilet huts, all very well designed with plenty of equipment, blankets, high quality bedding, cushions and outdoor seating as well as a gas barbecue. Separate fire pit with wood provided and access to a hot shower. TRead morehe hosts Liz and Malcolm were very welcoming and showed us around the site at the start, then left us alone to enjoy the tranquility in our own private field that was not overlooked by their home. They have created a beautiful space with expansive views over the Brecons and Black Mountains. The huts were placed so guests could enjoy the scenery from different viewpoints. The site was lined with oak and other large trees giving shade and shelter. It was a very pretty location and exceeded our expectations. We look forward to returning. Hide
