Set in a stunning spot 300 metres above sea level, and surrounded by the spellbinding vistas of the Brecon Beacons, this characterful hideaway makes a fantastic base for walkers, hikers and nature lovers. Within sight of the magnificent Sugar Loaf, the cottage enjoys superb panoramic views and offers cosy accommodation for three guests. One of a pair of neighbouring properties which can be booked together, this sweet retreat features a fantastic shared heated indoor swimming pool with resistance machine. Also featuring a beautiful shared garden, exposed wooden beams and stabling for guests bringing horses along, this delightful hideaway is ideal for solo travellers, couples and small families exploring an unforgettable part of South Wales.

This rustic-style cottage features a spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with impressive beams and comfortable furnishings. With a wood burner effect electric fire, the lounge is an ideal space for sitting back with a movie in the evenings. The central dining table is perfect for sharing meals which you can cook in the light, stylishly arranged kitchen. Upstairs, the pretty family bedroom has a double bed and a single bed, with timber beams in a low sloping ceiling. The ceiling is also low in the handy shower room. Outside, the front patio is a delightful spot for taking in awe-inspiring views. To the rear, the shared landscaped garden has a choice of seating areas, ponds and raised flower beds, perfect for birdwatching and relaxing in peace. There are also stabling facilities onsite and a shared heated indoor pool (opens early April - early November). This property has been approved by Visit Wales.

Eager climbers can head to Sugar Loaf (7 miles), while the nearby market town of Abergavenny (2.5 miles) has some great places to eat and drink. Local attractions include Tretower Court and Castle, the Big Pit National Coal Museum, Clydach Gorge, Goytre Wharf and Raglan Castle, all within 15 miles.

The cottage is well equipped and perfect for a quiet rural retreat with plenty of opportunities for walks nearby or a short drive away. We took enough provisions for a couple of days which we found useful, although there is a Tesco Express approximately a 15min drive away.

Absolutely stunning location. Fantastic if you want to take your dog along too there is an enclosed garden at the back of the cottage. Very comfortable beds and a fantastic shower. We loved our stay.
