Lovely for a laid-back break in the Brecon Beacons, this contemporary eco-friendly lodge with a wood-fired hot tub is set in an orchard with wonderful scenery and walks on the doorstep. Dog friendly, it has a private decking area and two blissful bedrooms to sleep a party of four.

Located in the national park village of Talgarth, this high-end lodge is one of a pair set on a grassy bank surrounded by apple and pear trees. Follow the stepped pathway through the orchard down to the lodge, where you will find the entrance hall which leads past a handy utility area to a stylish super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made up as a twin on request), which has lovely views over the garden. A couple of steps down from the hallway, the inviting open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner features a comfortable sofa and chairs, a Smart TV and floor-to-ceiling windows so you can fully absorb your beautiful surroundings. The dining table is well positioned between the lounge and kitchen, where you’ll find all the must-haves of home including an induction hob and dishwasher. An internal hallway leads to a striking shower room and a second, king-sized bedroom. Ensuring warm toes and paws all year round (as two dogs are welcome to join in your holiday fun), the lodge has underfloor heating throughout. When the weather is on-side, you’ll love the outside space here – a private decking area overlooks the orchard, stream and woodland beyond and has garden furniture and a BBQ. To one side, a wood-fired hot tub offers the ultimate in laid-back luxury and the perfect end to your day.

Near the Rhiangoll Valley and Black Mountains, Talgarth is on your doorstep and is an ancient market town abundant in charm and hospitality. Just 9.5 miles away, the cathedral town of Brecon is a must-see; the beating heart of the national park, it is famed for its Georgian architecture and waterside walks. Beyond, the national park offers something for everyone who loves the great outdoors; head to the visitor centre in Libanus (14 miles) to plan adrenaline-fuelled adventures. Alternatively, enjoy a leisurely day in Hay-on-Wye ( 8 miles). This bookworm’s paradise has a weekly market and a host of independent shops and eateries to suit every taste.

We loved our stay at the Apple Tree (Orchard). The space was so incredibly cozy and beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the wood fired soaking tub! We were able to cook with the well equipped kitchen as well as launder our very muddy clothes. This was a beautiful respite from the gloomy weather and has been thoughtfully designed. The location is alRead moreso fantastic for those looking to get into the mountains quickly. Hide

A well appointed, high quality lodge with very comfy beds and the treat of a wood fired hot tub which was a great experience albeit tricky to get hot the first night. Lovely quiet environment to spend a few days to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Brecon Beacons.

We stayed for a weekend towards end of January. 2 couples. Lodge was lovely and warm. Very clean and well equipped. Beds were super comfortable. The grounds are lovely and car parking is great. Loads of wood for the hot tub. We spent Saturday afternoon going for a lovely walk and then in the Bridge End Inn. Highly recommended. The host, Louise wasRead more excellent and really responsive. Let us have a later check out as we had booked Sunday lunch at the Bridge End. Great place, great value. Will be back. Hide

Was perfect, location, settings, garden, hot tub, everything we needed was there cork screw tin opener. And the details in the blurb about the eco house and the surrounding areas was fab.
