Located within the stunning Black Mountains on the eastern fringes of the Brecon Beacons National Park, discover the captivating Olchon Valley with friends or family and stay deep in the heart of rural Wales. Nestled amidst this picturesque landscape, this beautiful cottage awaits with its wonderfully preserved original features, roaring wood burner and private garden surrounded by glorious countryside.

Step into the enchanting stone porch, offering convenient storage for outdoor gear. Inside, discover characterful stone floors and traditional wooden cupboards in the well-equipped kitchen. Gather around the rustic dining table to plan your day's adventures or enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Transition to the cosy lounge/diner, where plush sofas invite you to unwind by the warmth of the wood burner while a TV/DVD is there for entertainment. The family bathroom can also be found on the ground floor. Climb the steep cottage stairs to discover the four inviting bedrooms, including a garden-view super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom, a charming king-size bedroom which provides access to a twin room, and a small single room. Completing the internal layout is a shower room. Outside, soak up the breath-taking views of fields and mountains from the comfort of the cottage's enclosed south-facing garden, complete with wooden furniture, a parasol, and a BBQ for al fresco dining.

A designated Area of Special Scientific Interest, this beautiful area boasts an abundance of rare birds, plants, and animals amidst pristine natural surroundings free from light pollution, making it an ideal spot for stargazing. Embark on scenic hikes into the Black Mountains, ascend the Hatterrall Ridge to join the Offa's Dyke Path or explore the evocative ruins of Llanthony Priory (15 miles). Adventure-seekers can indulge in thrilling activities such as canoeing, pony trekking, and climbing within the Brecon Beacons National Park, while culture enthusiasts can delight in exploring the charming market towns of Hay-on-Wye, Abergavenny, and Crickhowell, all within 20 miles of your door.

The Firs is a favourite of ours, its remote location is beautiful, tucked away at the end of a stunning valley. The cottage has the right blend of traditional features and modern comfort. I will always recommend this holiday home, its an adventure every time we go. Nick

An idyllic, peaceful retreat for those seeking time away from the hustle of daily life. The scenery and sounds of nature were such a treat - the dog was in heaven roaming those hills! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Lovely secluded cottage at the foot of the black mountains in spectacular setting. Warm and cosy feeling throughout and a great place to retreat from it all. Great location for walking and fresh air. Highly recommended!

Lovely cottage. Great if you want a place in the middle of nowhere with barely any signal. Just be aware of the low beams in this property and don't bang your head.

A fantastic country cottage, peaceful and quiet. Garden enclosed so dog can have freedom of running, stone floors are a bonus with dog as do not have to worry if floor becomes dirty just a quick mop unlike carpeted cottage.

This is a really lovely, secluded cottage. It was the perfect venue for our family Christmas. Plenty of space for four adults, two kids, and two dogs. Very comfortable and well-equipped, but be prepared to truly be out in the middle of nowhere (and with very little phone signal, for better or worse!). The nearest shop is about a 15-minute drive, anRead mored we definitely needed 4WD for the roads. But enjoyed every minute of our stay! Hide

This is an absolutely stunning cottage with beautiful views, it has absolutely everything you can think of there all you need to take is your food and drink, we loved it so much and so did the dogs, we will definitely be booking for next year, thank you.

What a location!! Its a lovely cottage in a beautiful valley of the Black Hills, perfect family retreat for walks, open fires and a digital detox.

The cottage is in a great location and we enjoyed our walks. We loved the the log buring fire, the birds and being able to sit outside in the sunshine. The shop in Longtown is a gem, we sat outside for coffee before going up to the house. All in all a great weekend.

Beautiful setting regardless of weather. If you're looking to get away from the busy world around us, this certainly fits the bill. Plenty of good walks , lovely friendly pub with good food and a well stocked village shop a few miles drive away .
