Offering stunning views over the Wye Valley and towards the Brecon Beacons, this stunning Grade II-listed property has been imaginatively updated to make a fantastic holiday home for groups of friends and larger families. Offering stylishly decorated and beautifully furnished accommodation for up to eight guests the characterful retreat retains plenty of original features including exposed timber beams (including a rare medieval cruck frame), vaulted ceilings and flagstone flooring. Set in a secluded rural spot, this idyllic hideaway sits close to the Powys/Herefordshire border and provides an elegant and relaxing base for discovering the magical surrounding countryside.

This stunning property offers a handsome formal dining room and two beautifully furnished lounges, each with a wood burner and timber beams. The light-filled kitchen has vaulted ceilings and a central island, with a useful, fully-stocked pantry. There's also a handy boot room, a children's snug area, and a spacious ground-floor double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and doors opening onto the grounds. The three remaining super-king-size bedrooms - all with beautiful wooden beams - are on the first floor, reached via two separate staircases. Two of the bedrooms share a lovely bathroom, while the third has its own en-suite bathroom. From the kitchen, patio doors lead onto a beautiful canopied terrace providing a relaxing spot for dining alfresco. There's further seating and a firepit nearby, and you're welcome to explore the extensive grounds which feature a children's treehouse and manege which has been made up as a football pitch.

The cottage lies north of Hay-on-Wye (3 miles), a bustling market town known for its literature festival and numerous second-hand bookshops. The Brecon Beacons National Park is immediately to the south, offering miles of spellbinding walks and cycle trails. Also nearby are Bronllys Castle, Black Mountain Adventure and Cwmmau Farmhouse, all within 10 miles.

What an incredible stay in an equally incredible property! If youre looking for a cosy and tranquil place to stay where you can relax whilst listening to the wildlife then this is the place for you. The house is brilliant, plenty of space, nice and clean with everything you could need for your holiday. To top it off, the outdoor space in beautiful,Read more wild flower meadows to the side and rear with paths to explore, a basket rope swing which the kids adored and a patio/seating area to die for; the view from which is spectacular. This is a beautiful very well equipped house in very beautiful countryside. It is ideal for a large group get away. The descriptions proved to be very accurate.

What a lovely place to spend a week with the family. Surrounding area fantastic for walks and Hay-On-Wye is a must to visit. The property has been renovated to a high standard and works really well with four areas on the ground floor that flow but equally provide areas of privacy if you want a quiet moment. Bedrooms and bathrooms immaculate and mosRead moret importantly after a busy day followed by family games evenings, (with the odd glass or three!!), you retire to a fabulous bed. We had a lovely stay in this beautiful house. Loved the views of the Black Mountains and the sky both day and night . The house was very well designed, equipped and comfortable for all ages. I loved the garden surrounded by old oak trees and apples were dripping from branches like black plums nearby. We recommend the Thursday market in Hay and get Read morea good driver to take you to Capel Y Ffynn. . Get Kilverts diary for a bit of amusing local history about Clyro maybe . Take binoculars ! We stayed at Little Wern Y Pentre in Clyro near Hay on Wye. Pros and cons: Pros - lovely views of the Black mountains. Well presented bedrooms and comfortable beds. Well stocked kitchen with regards to pots, pans etc. Nice log burner. Stone floors, which were great for the dogs. Very close to Hay on Wye. Cons - the garden. We came here as a family (with one small dog) to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday. The cottage and setting are beautiful and everything has been thought of. It was clean and well decorated, with some lovely little touches. We had such good weather we spent a lot of time on the terrace. My mum has accessibilty needs, but managed to get around fine wRead moreith our help. There are small steps between areas though, so worth knowing. However we loved it here and may return! Hide

A beautiful house in a gorgeous setting the whole family, parents kids and grandkids all had a wonderful time. Owner was quick in responding to our questions on a couple of clarifications. We were all disappointed the week passed so quickly and we had to leave!

When can we move in! After a really busy year we were looking for a place to relax and unwind. We certainly found it here. Our plan was to spend time at the cottage, the thought that has gone into and decor made that very easy. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped.
