Recharge your batteries in a peaceful rural hideaway for two in beautiful Mid Wales. The beautifully converted single-level retreat, once a farm outbuilding, has original features and lovely views. It is perfect for a couple seeking to get away from it all and two pets are also welcome. Set in a secluded valley and surrounded by idyllic countryside, the property is 3 miles from the small village of Newbridge-on-Wye. There are wonderful mountain walks from the front door, and outdoor pursuits nearby include mountain biking, hang gliding and canoeing.
Picture windows across the full width of the spacious, open-plan living area flood the space with light, while exposed beams, whitewashed stone walls and wooden flooring enhance its character and charm. Comfortable armchairs offer splendid views, with ample space for the contemporary kitchen, plus a pretty dining table. A country-style double bed tucks into a corner and there is a separate bathroom. There is no TV or Wi-Fi, and mobile reception is variable; however, there is a radio/CD player. Outside is a large, shared garden beside a stream, with a lawn, picnic bench and BBQ. This is the perfect, tranquil spot to observe wildlife and enjoy dark, starry skies.
The charming Victorian spa towns of Builth Wells (6 miles) and Llandrindod Wells (7 miles) are within easy reach, both with a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants. Builth Wells has a lively arts centre with a cinema and there are scenic walks along the banks of the River Wye. Follow the Heritage Trail in Llandrindod Wells, where you can still sample the spa waters at the Chalybeate Spring. Further afield, the Valley View Falconry (11.5 miles) and the beautiful Elan Valley (14 miles) are also worth a visit.
