  • Perfect for walkers and mountain bike enthusiasts with access to the cycle paths
  • A great base for exploring the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and Welsh Borders
Property code: OC-73633

Escape to this delightful stone apartment set within the magnificent Forest of Dean. Also head out into the Wye Valley and over the border into Wales from the one-bedroom hideaway for two. Welcoming dogs, the Ruspidge hideaway, which is 2 miles from Cinderford and 13 miles from Monmouth, has fabulous footpaths to follow right from the doorstep.

Climb the stone steps up to the front door of your tranquil bolthole. Step inside to find exquisite accommodation, with white-washed stone walls, wooden floors and vaulted ceilings. Settle on the leather seating in the lounge to watch TV, discuss your day and enjoy some away time together. When mealtimes beckon, head through to the rustic-style kitchen/diner to find everything you need to help you prepare the fresh produce you have bought. Serve candle-lit meals at the table in here and pop open a bottle of wine. At the end of each day away, amble through to the double bedroom, where you can lie back and look up at the stars through the skylight windows on clear nights. Awake to refresh yourselves with a hot shower every morning. Although there is no private outside space here, the apartment is within 200 metres of countryside and woodland.

Head into Cinderford to browse in the shops, dine out in a friendly, local pub and stock up on local delicacies. Stroll 1.5 miles to the Dean Heritage Centre to explore its five acres of leafy grounds and find out more about the history of the area. Soudley Ponds, also 1.5 miles away, is another beautiful place to wander. Venture 12.5 miles into the beautiful Wye Valley to visit Symonds Yat and see the spectacular views from up on the rock. Those who enjoy canoeing can also hire boats and paddle out on the river from here.

Amazing property in an amazing location. A cosy, warm place to relax in after long walks in the Forest of Dean just a few minutes away from Cinderford town centre. It was definitely a home away from home and would love to return one day.

Really enjoyed our stay. Very close to walking trails in the forest of dean which was great. Enjoyed the choice of dvds and the cottage had a very quirky feel. Had everything we needed and was very cosy. Particularly enjoyed mallards pike, sculpture trail, symonds yat and food at the rising sun inn.

Fabulous stay, comfortable bed and sofas. All equipment you could need in kitchen and salt, pepper etc. Suggestions for places to visit and eat were excellent and offered a good variety of ideas. Shower malfunctioned during stay, was replaced within 24 hours. These things can happen but the resolution was so fast, I was really impressed. We enjoyed our stay at Stone End Lodge. It was cosy and comfortable for us and our dog. It provided the ideal base for discovering local trails and visiting nearby towns. We would stay here again and would recommend the lodge to friends and family.
