Nestled in a patch of ancient woodland on the banks of the Dyfi Estuary, this tranquil lodge is the perfect rural escape. Surrounded by woodland walks with mesmerising estuary views, it offers total seclusion yet is conveniently located between the seaside resort of Aberdyfi and friendly market town of Machynlleth. Sleeping seven guests in four bedrooms, this dog-friendly property is ideal for nature-loving families and groups seeking solitude.

Thoughtfully laid out over two storeys, this charming abode exudes warmth and comfort and has a relaxed rural style. The bright and cheerful country-style kitchen is beautifully equipped for preparing home-cooked meals, while a dining table offers a convenient spot to perch with your morning coffee while browsing the papers. Next door, the spacious lounge/diner invites sociable evenings in, with a long dining table and a selection of deep seating arranged around the warming wood burner. Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase the peaceful views, while outside a covered sun terrace offers the perfect spot to dine alfresco or stargaze while sharing a bottle of wine. When it’s time to rest your head, a single bedroom and wet room on the ground floor takes care of guests with mobility issues. There are three further bedrooms on the first floor – a king-size, super-king-size and a twin – along with a sleek family bathroom with a freestanding bathtub and walk-in shower.

Wander out from your front door to explore the ancient woodland, which once formed part of the Welsh Celtic Rainforest, and watch for wildlife over the estuary. Enjoy golden sands, go crabbing from the quay or get active with a range of water sports in the traditional seaside resort of Aberdyfi (3 miles). Spacious house, lovely location with great views. We visited with my elderly in-laws with reduced mobility and found the stairlift and wet room with a higher toilet really helpful. Lots to do locally and would visit the lodge again.
