This was a very pleasant cottage to stay in for a week in September. The location is very good with plenty of wonderful walks from the door (you can walk into Hay) and its oh so quiet Parking is just outside by the front door so extremely easy for unloading on arrival. Although upstairs felt very spacious, with three very good sized double bedrooRead morems ( and a small single), and two big bath/shower rooms, downstairs there is actually a lot less room.. there is just the one living room, with two sofas (but not much extra space), and the dining room which leads straight into the kitchen. This wasnt a problem for us at all as we were just two, but good to know if youd prefer more room for a bigger group. We found the downstairs toilet a bit awkward to use as it is under the stairs and is a bit cramped. The beds were pretty comfy and the bedsheets were cotton. There was always plenty of hot water for baths, showers and washing up and the water was very hot.. great! The cottage was generally very clean. One thing to be aware of is that apart from the range cooker there is an electric hob but this only has two rings. We did struggle cooking with the lack of worktop space in the kitchen. There is a tall fridge with small ice compartment but there was no freezer in the cottage. We didnt need to do washing but if we had, would have liked to hang it outside.. we didnt see a washing line or pegs. The courtyard off the kitchen is a lovely sunny space to sit eat or drink your cup of tea whilst listening to the birds. Oh did I mention the history.,,,! Hide

Cusop Mill Cottage was a perfect get away for myself, my husband and two adult daughters. The location is superb being a half hour walk from Hay on Wye but set in gorgeous countryside. We loved everything about the house, which stayed perfectly cool in the sweltering summer heat. I enjoyed waking up to the sound of birds every morning. The courtyarRead mored in back is perfect for eating a meal or just sitting and listening to the stream nearby. The cottage is attached to the big mill house but we had perfect privacy. Both buildings are very historical and we loved the old photos of the mill. I wish we could have stayed longer and we will certainly return in the future. A really perfect stay. Hide

The cottage was comfortable and roomy and had everything needed for what could have been a perfect holiday. Unfortunately there were roadworks on the road that reached the cottage which meant no access for cars for most of the day. The only other access by the diversion was completely unsuitable for cars in our opinion so we were unable to explore Read morethe wider area as much as we would have liked, instead we walked only in the local area. Response from HolidayCottages.co.uk ~ Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you found the cottage comfortable and well-equipped. We are sorry your stay was affected by unexpected local roadworks, which were unfortunately outside of our control. We have been advised that these works are now completed. We do hope you were still able to enjoy the cottage and the local area. Hide

6 of us, and 1 dog, stayed at the old mill for our yearly friends get together. We had a fabulous time, the facilities suited our needs and was perfectly situated for walkers of all levels, as well as being an easy picturesque walk to the town centre for shopping, eating and drinking - so no concerns about having to drive. A perfect little cottage for our family stay. Very traditional and characterful but beautifully decorated and clean. Walking distance to Hay but also lots of countryside walks from the doorstep. So many waterfalls. Wish we had a longer stay so may well book again. Very friendly owners on the Mill House next door.
