Gwarfelin is a lovely old farm cottage which is quirky with thick stone walls and sloping upper floors. The location is very peaceful with a lot of bird life and walks down to the stream and closeby fields. The drive to the cottage from the main road can be quite difficult but it gives you a chance to improve your reversing skills. The seating and Read morebeds were very comfortable and our dogs certainly enjoyed the stay. The cottage is a little bit tired but this is to be expected from an old proprty steeped in history of local life. Hide

The house is damp & the first smell when you enter is of damp. The house was also not properly cleaned, lots cobwebs everywhere, kitchen pots & lids not properly cleaned. Under the sink there is a mess with cleaning stuff, the kitchen worktops and various cutting boards were not cleaned properly. The fire place was not cleaned neither the glass dooRead morer. The clatter in the living room is overwhelming. The walls look dirty and in need of proper refurbishing. The only acceptable things were linen and towels , clean and new. The bedroom furniture should be repaired and refurbished, as the wardrobe is unusable, no place to hang clothes , with rubbish on the top. You can have old furniture, but it has to be fixed and cleaned. Overall this house should not be rented like this. Hide

Reading some of the reviews before I think some people should check out where it is they are actually going! Seriously complaining about the narrow roads it's Wales what did you expect? Also the cleanliness, it's a very old cottage that welcomes up to 5 dogs if it was pristine with polished surfaces and high gloss everywhere it would lose all of itRead mores character and I would be chasing the dogs around with a mop! We stayed here over Christmas 2025 and I can honestly say we and our 3 dogs loved it Hide

Lovely location you couldn't fault but parts of the road to cottage overgrown and we scratched our vehicle quite a bit. Think the cottage needs a little TLC and a spring clean. Host lovely and welcoming and the cottage was well stocked with cookware etc Internet and phone reception very poor. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your Read morereview. Weve spoken to the owner and are informed there are two internet connections into the cottage and these will also allow wi-fi calling. Hide

Enjoyed a 3 night weekend with my dog pals in an admittedly remote but satisfyingly peaceful House Beyond the Mill.
