Make this impressive country house your home while exploring the magnificent Brecon Beacons National Park. The property’s location is simply idyllic, surrounded by bright green countryside yet just 4 miles from Abergavenny for any amenities. Spacious rooms laid out over two storeys make way for six guests to stay, perfect for families, and the property is also dog-friendly with sprawling gardens all around where children and pets can play. Spend your days exploring the eastern side of South Wales’ magnificent National Park, hiking the Black Mountain Range, experiencing some long-distance walking routes or simply touring local towns and villages, including the characterful locale of Crickhowell (9.5 miles).

This detached cottage is surrounded by ample garden space, complete with a sweet picnic bench and table for dining with an uninterrupted view of the Monmouthshire countryside. Inside, the cottage has been maintained with traditional décor, cosy and peaceful in every room. The kitchen and dining room sit adjacent to one another for easy mealtimes, and the inviting lounge is along the hallway with soft seating and a large TV. Wander past the ground floor WC as you make your way upstairs, home to three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One room is an extremely spacious triple, ideal for families with younger kids.

Experience local history with a trip to the heritage site of Blaenavon (4 miles), an attractive town with the Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon Ironworks, the World Heritage Centre and Blaenavon Heritage Railway all within walking distance of one another. For walkers, move towards Crickhowell and embark on a trip up Sugar Loaf Mountain (8 miles), an easy start before hiking any of the Black Mountain summits (20 miles). Alternatively, drive to Monmouth (16 miles) and embark on Offa’s Dyke Path, a sprawling pathway that follows the contours of the England-Wales border.

This is the best property weve ever stayed in. It had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The rooms were so comfortable. Felt like home from home. We will be back!

Dan Yr Hoel cottage is quite simply stunning , the views are incredible and its so welcoming and comfortable plus extremely well equipped. Easy access to local beauty spots , towns and shops but you feel like you can escape the world at the end of the day . Its spacious for a cottage . Such a stunning location with amazing views from all windows of the cottage! Plenty of space inside and outside. I wish we brought more ball games to make more use of the outside space (but limited room in the car!) So definitely worth bringing outdoor games if you can! The cottage was a safe and secluded spot perfect for two small dogs and a three year old. The garden was a particular delight.

Extremely dog friendly with a garden which was absolutely secure for our two dogs, Very peaceful walks along the canal within 5 minutes of the property. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment. A lovely spacious comfortable cottage with a large garden, perfect for family gatherings. The views of Sugarloaf were stunning and there were walks ftom the door. An easy drive into Abergavenny with it's bustling cafes and restaurants. The hosts Andrew and Susie were very helpful and the welcome juice, cider and welsh cakes was a lovely touch!

This is a beautiful, spacious cottage with a gorgeous garden. The single track lane is not scary as there are plenty of passing points. We had the best stay here and will be our go to place when visiting south Wales. The location is out of this world with the most amazing views and walks - up to the mountains and down to the canal!. With a fully enclosed garden and thoughtful extras the property is perfect for dogs. The kitchen is well equipped and all the rooms super comfortable.
