Property code: OC-BN242

Outdoorsy couples and their canine plus-ones will love this romantic retreat. Located on a farm surrounded by beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside, it offers a wealth of off-the-beaten-track walks. For a change of pace, enjoy a peaceful soak in the shared hot tub or explore Llandovery, gateway to the Brecon Beacons beyond.

One of five holiday properties created by the restoration of some historic stone buildings on a 350-acre estate, this characterful cottage makes a charming couple’s bolthole. Step inside and you’ll be welcomed into a hallway where you can leave coats, boots and dog blankets, plus a handy cloakroom beside the staircase. Move on into the spacious living room, which overlooks the pretty courtyard and has comfortable sofas alongside a dining suite and TV. The kitchenette has all the essentials of home, including a fridge freezer and washer/dryer. After a busy day of adventures, the first-floor king-size bedroom is calm and restful, with a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite shower room. Additional seating on the light-filled landing adds to the sense of space. Outside, there’s a lawned garden where you can soak up the sun or fire up the BBQ; relax further by booking a session in the large indoor hot tub, which opens onto a patio with farm views.

Park the car and explore your surroundings on foot – the cottages here are surrounded by woods and fields with the River Bran running through the middle, while the owner’s spectacular hill farm is further up the valley. There’s a wealth of other walks to discover from your doorstep, including a 7-mile trail from nearby Cynghordy Railway Station to Llandovery, a traditional market town built on the profits of the 19th-century wool trade. Llandovery sits on the western border of the Brecon Beacons – the Visitor Centre in Libanus (23 miles) is a great place to plan all the activities you can enjoy in the National Park.
