Brimming with charm and character and surrounded by 5 acres of shared grounds home to woodland walks and wildlife ponds, this rustic rural retreat nestled deep in the wild Welsh countryside is perfect for that long-awaited get-together with family or friends.

In keeping with the cottage's rich history, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner at the heart of this home-from-home boasts a truly warming ambience. Period furniture reminiscent of a country cottage and a roaring wood burner set the scene for pure relaxation, inviting tired travellers to unwind and dine with loved ones from sunrise to sunset; throw open the patio doors to relax to the sound of birdsong. At the end of a busy day, you have three characterful bedrooms upstairs to retire to, one en-suite double, one twin and one single, that boast glorious views and charming period pieces that'll transport you to centuries past. Lose yourself in views overlooking the Dyfi Valley as you dine alfresco on the large, shared lawn before finding pure peace and tranquillity uncovering the 5 acres of shared grounds, with woodland walks and opportunities to play table tennis, badminton and football on offer.

You'll get to know rural Wales very well from the peaceful spot on the fringes of Snowdonia National Park (8.5 miles), with mountain biking, hiking and mountaineering across spectacular scenery on offer. Venture to the vibrant market town of Machynlleth just under 8 miles away, home to the oldest street market in Britain, which you can explore every Wednesday, and plenty of quirky shops, restaurants and cafés, plus MOMA Wales, a must-see for art lovers. If it's sandy shores that you're looking for, head to the harbour village of Tywyn 19 miles away, which boasts a gloriously golden beach and a variety of water sports.

Very pretty area with a couple of nice walks. Positioned on the Mach loop means you get a variety of military aircraft flying past at low level. Shared gardens are lovely and well kept. Property is a bit tired.

The house is as it's shown in the photos, views from the garden across the fields to the hills beyond and the top of Cadair Idris were fabulous with plenty of interesting paths through what was clearly a landscaped garden decades ago. The short blast of noise, NOT intrusive, from the low flying RAF planes was inspirational to our 14 year old grandsRead moreon who spent most of his time trying to get photos of them. We, as a 3 generation family, loved all aspects of the house and its location. Hide
